What I want from a holiday is a stress free experience. I am afraid I didn’t find this at Los Zocos. I honestly can’t believe some of the flattering reviews as I always use TripAdvisor to help choose the right holiday but sadly they were hugely wrong and misleading this time.
Los Zocos delivered my absolute nightmare travelling thousands of miles with a family of 14 including 6 children and a 4 month year old baby to find my family had no rooms available for us and we were to be moved to another hotel at 20:30 at night. Imagine the scene, a baby that needed feeding 5 tired children stuck in a reception area with no aircon 13 suitcases and 2 buggies and to be told sorry you can’t have any of your 4 rooms that you had booked and paid for via EasyJet Holidays. I asked to speak to a Manager but was told numerous times that they were not available till 4 days time when they return to work on the Monday!!!!! I phoned EasyJet helpline and they had the same response and were put through to the same receptionist ( Laura ). Allegedly there was a technical problem with all 4 rooms! Coming from a technical background I asked what was the technical issue which I was refused an answer to.
So I had to accept a different hotel for the night, so the receptionist organised 5 taxis which my request for a baby seat was totally ignored.
We loaded all 13 suitcases and the family and was sent off to Vitaclass allegedly 4 star hotel. The reception team there were far more professional and our rooms were ready so clearly a premeditated decision from Los Zocos. In this hotel we were greeted with cockroaches in one of the bedrooms, ceiling fans that didn’t work and no air con. We were in for a wonderful night!😞 I spent numerous hours on the phone to EasyJet helpline that night.
Day 2 of the holiday, we went to breakfast at Vitaclass which was ok as we were on all inclusive package at Los Zocos. We decided to sit around the pool till lunchtime, allegedly Los Zocos rooms would be ready at 10:30 and guess what they wasn’t 😞. Eventually I had a call from EasyJet helpline stating 3 of the 4 rooms were ready. At this time it was lunchtime which I approached the Vitaclass reception to check if we could have lunch and she was very angry we were still at the hotel and stated they needed the rooms and we must leave the rooms immediately!! So no lunch for my family and we packed 4 families cases and headed for reception. I was then told I needed to pay for 5 taxis back to Los Zocos , yet again no baby seat provided after requesting. I refused to pay for these and eventually Los Zocos paid for.
On return to Los Zocos our wristbands were upgraded as a form of compensation although not much use having drinks upgraded when not everyone drinks in your party.
All our requests were ignored by Los Zocos of an upper floor and to be near each other! I was on the ground floor and yes we had cockroaches and small ants.
I finally had a meeting with a manager on the Monday after arriving with these issues on the Friday. I cannot accept that you or EasyJet or not able to speak to a manager for 4 days, what about incidents, serious accidents? I believe my experience deserved at least a manager to have spoken to me . Still no explanation of what the technical issue was with the rooms and EasyJet team stated that this was due to overbooking by the hotel.
All 4 rooms had issues throughout the holiday with the lack of cleanliness in bathrooms and the whole floor and terraces, they simply weren’t cleaned. I had to complain as my bedsheets were not changed by day 8 apparently they are supposed to be changed twice a week. The reason I know they wasn’t changed due a hole in the linen.
Rooms are very very tired but if they were cleaned properly that would help.
No new towels in some of the rooms or sometimes only small hand towels supplied , yet again another visit to reception.
Entertainment room enclosed with no aircon!
Entertainment poor although the entertainment team work very hard.
Food be is reasonable and breakfast is good.
If you need shade around the pools then are limited umbrellas which cannot be moved. People’s towels on sunbeds from 6:00 Am.
Pools are far too cold for use with children exiting the pool with blue lips and this in late July!
Don’t buy inflatables for the children they won’t be allowed to use them.
As a well traveled person I would not say this hotel deserves its 4 star rating and I have stayed in better 3 star hotels.
No quality assurance ,no management visibility and no management over the weekend.
Sadly Los Zocos saw my family as the easy solution to send to another hotel. The stress and upset caused was definitely not what I expected from a holiday.
Would I recommend or return to this hotel it would be a definite No!😞😞😞😞
Positives were bar team and restaurant team that work very hard. Location is also good.
We are a family group including an 11 and 14 year old. Our rooms were central to the facilities and were cleaned daily with fresh towels provided. A j cloth would have been handy to wipe down surfaces next to the sink. Would take a couple another time. Had an issue with the bedroom curtain which was sorted straight away. The air conditioning worked well. The cleaning staff and restaurant staff were cheerful and friendly. The restaurant could get noisy as it is so big but we all managed to find food we enjoyed each day and the breakfast was particularly good. The beer and red wine were good and the variety of drinks pretty impressive. Chinese restaurant option made a welcome change. The pools are cold at first but there is also pool, mini golf etc and an aquarium just behind the hotel. We sat outside and played cards in the evenings and a nicer bar area would have been appreciated. We liked the firm beds and all slept well there. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again. The hotel seemed well managed and the staff were lovely.
We stayed at Los Zocos for a week as a family of four.
Pros:
The grounds are lovely, staff are all nice and welcoming. The hotel has a very relaxed feel sitting around the pool, plenty of pools and space to swim, plenty of sunbeds (although getting one in the shade is tricky). Our balcony was nice overlooking the pool. Great location as it’s so close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Foam party was very fun, my kids absolutely loved that day.
Cons:
The cleanliness of the rooms… we checked in to a dirty room with mould all over the door, each day the cleaners come and basically make the beds… the floor was filthy each day and one day I was especially shocked as we had some cups with drinks etc in the sink and they were just removed from the sink and put on the worktop (which still had coffee marks on it). I felt quite grubby going back to our room each day.
The beds are all so uncomfortable… they provide mattress toppers if you ask, although it doesn’t really help. And lastly the food was so average we was all fed up with it after day 2. Although the Chinese buffet was quite nice.
Overall, we all had a great time at the hotel and the good slightly outweighed the bad but unfortunately I wouldn’t return.
Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Rooms poor standard, furnishing poor, needs updating. Rooms not cleaned properly, screen on shower filthy. One of our rooms smelt of sewage.Food quality poor not much selection, the Chinese restaurant was buffet only had two choices and no spring rolls. Drinks left chemical taste in mouth. Not enough seating outside at night. Air condition units dripping on tables in dining room Would not recommend this hotel as we did not get value for money.
