Had a great week. Food was very good. If you are a couple thoroughly recommend paying a little extra to stay in premier suites which are adults only with own restaurant and bar. Short walk to beach.

Won’t be booking here again.
This goes to our stay in the beginning of September. There are a couple of positive things however the majority will all be negative. Starting off the reception staff were lovely. Also the staff / food was really nice in the Italian restaurant (which you could only go in once in the week under the all inclusive, which you would’ve thought paying the price we did for all inclusive we thought we would be able to go in more. The size of the pool was good however we got a constant smell of sewage near the sun-beds wherever we sat. Continuing on with that point, the ladders were incredibly unsafe and wobbly, the pool was always freezing cold and unfortunately we were staying at the hotel the same time the little boy died from falling in the pool. There was no life guards to be seen by the main pool or even walking around the pool when this happened as they were just at the top where the slide was. Which had a poor view of the whole pool itself. Obviously after that incident the atmosphere dropped massively. The pool bar was absolutely disgusting, firstly the cutlery and stacked plates were clearly not washed properly with dirty stains all over them, same with the cutlery. The staff there were so rude and looked like they didn’t want to be there at all, tables were left dirty for hours with plates, food, all sorts just left, and the que for the bar was always long as the staff were slack. Overall the pool bar alone was just atrocious. The rooms however were nice, but having to climb into a bath just to have a shower is a massive hazard especially as we had a elderly lady staying with us. The bathroom window is practically see - through as we found this out the hard way. The cleaner we had just made the bed and that was it, they just threw whatever stuff that was on the bed on the floor which I would never expect as we were staying in a 4 star hotel. For the first 4 days of our stay there was zero entertainment by the pool and eventually when the entertainment staff did go round they just appeared to only go to the parents who’s kids go to the disco. All though we don’t go just for the entertainment but you would’ve thought they could’ve been more involved with the guests, and the entertainment shows were very poor. Moving on to the restaurant it self, some staff just rushed to take your plate even when you hadn’t finished. Same again with the plates and cutlery, constantly dirty and disgusting. When you needed a waiter/ waitress they didn’t come to take a drink order or anything they were not in sight at all. Even the restursnt staff were rude and made no effort to make your stay any better. Lastly, there is more but I won’t keep going on. Once again with the price we paid for all inclusive, having to upgrade just to get better food, better entertainment and probably better staff was ridiculously expensive. Overall we made our holiday nice but the hotel was just a disappointment. Wouldn’t recommend, will go to adults only next time.
Great Family Holiday
I have to admit, after reading the reviews for Elba Lanzarote Royal Village, I was pretty apprehensive about our week there, but I have to say we were pleasantly surprised!
Rooms
Our room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. It was air conditioned and cleaned daily, with the bathroom towels changed every three days. The bathroom was looking a bit tired and could probably do with an upgrade, but it was clean, and our toddler even enjoyed playing with her pool toys in the bath!
Food and drinks
We didn't really have any complaints about the food. There was a decent selection of meat, pasta, salads and kids' options at every meal. It could get a bit repetitive, as some reviews have mentioned, but if you're not a fussy eater, there's enough choice to have something different each day. It's a busy all-inclusive resort, so the food was pretty much what I'd expect.
My only real gripe would be the drinks service. It would be much better if you could help yourself rather than having to wait to be served, although the waiting staff were always attentive and friendly.
Pools and sun loungers
We never struggled to find a sun lounger, even later in the day, although I'm not sure how full the hotel was when we visited. There were sometimes queues at the pool bar, but nothing like the 30–40-minute waits mentioned in some reviews. I imagine this probably depends on how busy the hotel is.
The pools were a comfortable temperature and never felt overcrowded during our stay. The lifeguards were quite strict about children wearing armbands in the deeper pools, even when accompanied by a parent. We did notice one day that there was only one lifeguard on duty, which is worth mentioning. That said, I'm a firm believer that parents should always keep a close eye on their kids in the pool, regardless of how many lifeguards are on duty!
Entertainment and kids' facilities
There was always plenty going on with the animation team, whether you wanted to get involved yourself or keep the kids entertained. The staff throughout the resort were always really friendly and great with children.
We found it a really good resort for toddlers. The indoor soft play in the kids' club was a great bonus, and one thing we particularly liked was that parents could go into the kids' club with their children. Our daughter wouldn't have been keen on being left there on her own, so being able to stay with her meant she could enjoy the facilities without any fuss. It was a small thing that made a big difference to us.
Location
The beach is a good 20–30-minute walk from the hotel, so it's worth bearing that in mind when booking. However, there's a free shuttle bus that takes you to the beach if you don't fancy the walk, which is particularly handy when travelling with young children.
Overall
All in all, we had a much better experience than we expected after reading some of the reviews. Is the hotel perfect? No. The bathroom could do with an upgrade, and being able to help yourself to drinks would be a definite improvement. But the room was clean, the food was perfectly acceptable, the pools were great and the staff were genuinely lovely.
Obviously, everyone's experience will be different, and how busy the hotel is probably makes a difference to things like queues and sunbed availability. But based on our experience, I wouldn't be put off booking just because of some of the negative reviews.
We'd happily consider coming back in the future, especially now that we know what to expect!
THE BEST FIRST FAMILY HOLIDAY!
My review of our weeks stay at the Elba 🩷
I'll start by saying we are 100% rebooking! This holiday will forever hold a special place in our hearts as it was our first family holiday and first time our daughter has been abroad.
The hotel itself is beautiful and extremely clean, the cleaners work very hard daily and it really shows. There is a bit of a wait at reception sometimes but the views are enough to occupy you whilst you wait and they honestly couldnt do enough for you.
The pool area is kept clean and tidy, we would always take our cups to the bar if any were left anyway I think thats just standard respect. The lifeguards were great especially the female lifeguard who'd open up both slides and made it fun for adults and kids!. Theres plenty to do during the day such as activities and what I love is that they're not in your face or pushy with you to take part. Some places I've been in the past they can be very pushy but here they werent at all. Pools can be a little nippy but once your in its lovely and I recommend long sleeve swimsuits for children just to protect them in the saltwater pools.
Animation team are amazing with the children, my daughter loved the mini disco on the night and we stayed and watched a Variety Show - Tina Turner act was hilarious! Hats off to them, to do what they do in this heat! 😃
Food we had was AI, pretty standard AI food but very beautiful and plenty of choice I found. Kids stuff (for bland eaters) could be a bit hit and miss but she always found something and even tried Mozzerella sticks which she loved. I enjoyed trying new foods to be honest and the dessert selection 😍😍😍 say no more! The staff were attentive and welcoming, I do think more staff arw needed more so for drinks orders when looking around in busier periods but we were always asked quite quickly. They really do work hard though.
My only nit pick would be the 2 drinks rule at the pool bar and I'm sure plenty can agree this can be a right pain in the butt when you have more than 2 of you..especially when your 3rd person is a child so I'd either have to drag all of us to the bar or her 🤣. The ques were fine and I never waited more than a few minutes. They work very very hard but do agree they could do with more staff.
Special shout out to Darcy who done our photos, she was just amazing. So kind, so fun and interactive with our little girl and very good at her job aswell. She didnt pester for photos - she'd ask as thats her job. We loved her!
We visited Marina Rubicon Market which is on a Wednesday & Saturday I believe (5 euro taxi there and back) - fantastic and a must do! We also walked down to Playa Blanca took us about 15 minutes and a further 10 to Playa Dorada beach but the hotel does do free shuttles throughout the day. (4 euros to get back) so very cheap!
10/10 holiday and cannot wait to rebook.

Poor
Selection of photos supplied which shows air conditioning hanging off wall, black mould in bathroom, dirty sofa in room , various photos of seating areas throughout hotel. Evidence speaks for itself. This should not be recommended by package holidays companies. It is a disgrace! Poor management in hotel. Terrible that there is not even basic cleanliness. Do not go there !
