This hotel is lovely and does well for a family stay, food was lovely other than the Italian restaurant and despite having a few problems that were fixed swiftly the rooms were good, however, staff are extremely rude, some were lovely, friendly and welcoming, however some were unacceptable Multiple staff at the bar stood and spoke rudely about my family clearly not realising I understand some Spanish and could hear them disrespecting us, despite the fact we were polite, kept to our selves and respected the rules.
To be honest I think that’s unacceptable, we like most families saved up all year for our one week away and do not expect to be treated with such disrespect, we spoke to others staying who experienced the same thing and noticed it was mostly towards English families. Clearly guest relations have been replying to these reviews and denying this behaviour, if instead they spoke to their staff and told them to stop being so incredibly rude perhaps I would give this place a higher rating. Whilst I enjoyed the stay I will not be returning due to being made feel so uncomfortable by the majority of staff, it’s a shame for the few which are so lovely as they deserve appreciation for their hard work. Every body works hard including my family, we manage to work with a smile on our faces and treat everyone kindly despite sometimes dealing with difficult people, either the staff here are just completely rude people or not professional enough, working in management I can say it’s not hard to find or correct staff to be polite, management should really crack down on this rude behaviour as sadly it really dims the light on what could be a lovely hotel.
Arrived home early hours this morning after a lovely time at this hotel. The staff were amazing and hard working and the animation team were fantastic with my daughter. Special mention to Valentina, Leon and Ruben! Mini disco and kids club were great and the shows, although more basic than other hotels I've stayed at, were fun to watch. After reading on about the rooms on level 1 near the kitchens, I emailed a couple of weeks ago asking if it was possible to not be placed there. On arrival we were given a free upgrade to a superior pool view room which was a lovely surprise so always worth an ask 😊 I found the pool quite cold - the first day my daughters lips were blue bless her. I only went in once or twice as I couldn't bare it but others seemed fine so down to individual preference. I wasn't a fan of the food unfortunately and, for the first 5 days, the central islands were down in the restaurant meaning mealtimes felt quite chaotic. The staff worked so hard to manage it all though but it was anything but relaxing. We always found something to eat but I think breakfast only would have been better for us as lots of other lovely places to eat. Queues were long to get food or drink, more staff would help alleviate this. My daughter had a lovely time, the room and area was lovely. It wouldn't be somewhere I'd return to though due to the pool temperature but again, that's my preference. The market at the marina was brilliant and the beach beautiful. Everything is really close and accessible.
Don't get me wrong this is a nice hotel, it just could be so much better. We paid the extra for Prestige which was a blessing, however should have been more. Apart from the Prestige Room and being able to have breakfast in the Italian there was no benefit really. Other H10 hotels have seperate pools and Prestige areas. La dolce Vita in the evening was very disappointing, the Japanese we couldn't get in as it was opening ony two night per week. The main buffet Restaurant was very poor, the food and the service. The wait just to order a drink was abismal. The choice and quality if food wasn't great, certainly not upto H10 standards The pool bar and snack bar were seriously understaffed and queues were ridiculous. Unfortunately as the Piano/Lounge bar didnt open until 5pm, there was nowhere relaxing to sit and have a nice drink in a real glass and relax throughout the day. Its a shame this hotel could be so much nicer.
We stayed here at the beginning of July, before English school holidays started. It was busy, but always found sunbeds, even late morning. The pool area was big enough that even whilst busy we could still relax. We used the indoor and outdoor pool several times, both were good. There seemed to be a lot of children's activities going on daily and 1 or 2 adults activities too. There was a mini golf area on site, which was good fun to do. Our room/suite was 2117. It was good size wise, separate bedroom, single fold up bed in the lounge for our teenage son. The bathroom was big, had a shower over the bath and was clean. Towels were changed as often as we wanted (left them in bath if we wanted them changed). There were shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand-wash and moisturising lotion in pumps on the wall, all great! Also little packets with toothbrush, tiny toothpaste, comb, shaving set, shower cap on arrival too! We had a full fridge of drinks on arrival and topped it up from the bar in the evening with a soft drink each. We had a bottle of champagne and chocolates on arrival, as well as dressing gowns and slippers, to celebrate our anniversary! A really lovely touch, thank you! Our bed was huge...8ft wide (possibly 2 put together, but no annoying gap) it was very comfortable! There was access to the large balcony from the bedroom and lounge. The balcony had 2 sunbeds, a table and 2 chairs on it. The view was ok, not the best, being at the side, so overlooked the fair and road. We could see mountains which were nice. The fair went on until midnight, I think this is only temporary (for July?). Food....there seems to be several bad reviews on food, we don't understand why. Breakfast there was plenty of choice of hot food, pancakes, churros, sauces, cereals, fruit, porridge, yoghurt, breads, toast, cakes, pastries, omelette cooked with your choice of fillings, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit juice at the machines and a selection of weird, but nice smoothies too, probably lots of other things that I've missed. All tasted great! Lunch we went into the restaurant once or twice and it was great, plenty of choice again. We ate at the pool bar, or chose snacks to take to our sunbeds most days. We had pizza (which I have to be honest we found too greasy), chicken nuggets, cheese nuggets, nachos, baguettes, fruit, burgers, all ok. There were other options too. Drinks were great too! Evening meals, we found lots of options again, meats, vegetables, pasta, rice, potatoes, lots of desserts, fruit, yoghurt etc. There tended to be themed nights, our son loved Mexican night! We are fairly fussy and always found something to eat and enjoyed it! We ate in the Japanese restaurant once as part of the AI package, it was really nice and a fun experience with the show cooking! Staff were all friendly and helpful and worked hard. On our last day we had the option to pay to keep our room as we had a late flight home, but chose to use the complimentary room to shower (booked a slot) and store our cases in the locked luggage room. Location was perfect! 5 minute walk to the beach, just across the road out of the back gate. 15 minutes walk to the marina and 5 minutes walk to the main shopping street or the seafront walk (bars, shops etc). We had a great holiday, didn't have any bad experiences here and would definitely return!
Honest Family Review
I’m going to be completely honest in our opinion, this is not a 4-star hotel. We would rate it closer to a 3-star.
We paid extra for the Privilege Package, which was probably the only thing that made breakfast worthwhile. Without it, I definitely wouldn’t have paid the additional cost. The food was extremely disappointing, with very limited choice and not much variety.
Unfortunately, the staff weren’t particularly helpful either. The hotel also wasn’t as clean as we expected, especially around the Cactus Bar and the drinks collection area. We also found the service inconsistent — some staff would provide the drink you ordered, while others would tell you they didn’t have it.
One positive was the sunbed situation. We always managed to find a sunbed, as staff remove towels from beds that haven’t been claimed by a family member before 10am. I actually think this is a fantastic system and definitely prevents the usual sunbed wars! The downside was that the pool was absolutely freezing.
The entertainment was another big disappointment. There was very little atmosphere, and there simply weren’t enough seats available, which made the evenings far from enjoyable.
The location itself is good and convenient for the harbour, although be prepared for a strong sewage smell when walking in that direction.
Overall, it’s a nice-looking hotel in a good location, but I honestly don’t feel it deserves the Luxe Collection label. I also wouldn’t recommend paying extra for the Privilege Package, as we didn’t feel we received enough additional benefits to justify the cost.
Sadly, we won’t be returning. We left feeling disappointed and that we hadn’t received value for the money we paid, particularly after booking through Jet2. It certainly wasn’t the experience we were expecting from a 4-star Luxe Collection hotel.
