H10 Rubicon Palace

I am a regular visitor to the H10 Rubicon Horizon in Lanzarote, as a solo traveller, it is comfortable, safe and meets all my needs, I love to go walking and it is ideally situated for lone safe walks. Food choice is good, the bookable restaurants are lovely, love the yoga and Pilates sessions, so much going on in the day to suit all tastes. Diverse evening entertainment, and quiet bar too. Great to chill with a good book, go to Mike’s for a choice of daytime drinks, various coffees, tea’s, smoothies and shakes. All staff are so friendly and helpful. The Spa is very relaxing. The Rituals shower, hair and body lotions provided are great.H10

A relaxing 12 night stay in an out of town location, although there is a bus every half hour into Playa Blanca. We stayed in a Privilege room, worth it if your budget suites. All inclusive meant we could eat and drink anywhere, the only problem was that the three Al la carte restaurants only open 2 days per week, and you have to book them. We managed to book Sakura Asian restaurant, the food was ok, only 2 prawns on my fish dish, this pattern followed through out the restaurants, service was ok, there was definitely a language barrier at times. We ate at Dulce Vita Italian also Al la carte, the food was lovely but the service was more Faulty Towers than you’d expect, it was quite funny watching the staff run around like they were headless chickens; one waiter asked, I have 2 brownies, did anyone order them? The main Privilege restaurant, Vulcan always seemed short staffed, with only the maitre d’ able to take orders. The menu didn’t change and was quite bland, such a shame we didn’t get to try any Canadian food. The Bistro bar in the adult only area was very good, the best food out of all the restaurants and the staff were very experienced, polite and prompt, shame it was only open until 6pm. I almost forgot, The Blue Moon adult only restaurant, the highlight was the cockroach doing a backstroke under the table next to us, when we alerted the maitre d’ he didn’t seem too bothered saying that they come in for the sweet things, he did remove it after serving a few guests. The bar areas were good, service was hit and miss, sometimes slow, but the drink portions were plentiful. The hotel and rooms were generally clean and well maintained. Some of the staff members didn’t seem to be very happy in there job, not paying attention to the guests. Upon check in the Privilege guest relations didn’t explain everything and we only found out after a week what we were entitled to. Front of house staff should be a little more happy to serve, a smile would go a long way, after all people are on holiday. The feel of the hotel was very much,,, trying to be a four star, but not quite making it.. would we return, no, would we recommend, yes but making sure people don’t have high expectations. Guest relations have been around the hotel a couple of times canvassing for feedback, hopefully the feedback will be taken on board to improve things for guests. With a couple of days left we are looking forward to the remainder of our stay at H10 Rubicon Horizons.
