- H10 Timanfaya Palace

This hotel is located in the fishing village of Playa Blanca, in the south of Lanzarote. The hotel is set on the seafront, boasting close proximity to a number of attractions in the area. The hotel is situated just a short distance away from the Flamingo beach and lies a 15 minutes' driving distance from the beach of Papagayo. The town centre is close by, where guests can explore a host of shopping, dining and entertainment venues. This hotel enjoys a charming design, beautifully blending Spanish and Arabic influences. The guest rooms are superbly designed, offering a peaceful setting in which to unwind. Guests are invited to enjoy the facilities and services that the hotel has to offer.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
If it was 10 out of 10 I would give it a 10
Fourth visit in 7 years and it is still one of the very few hotels we have ever returned to. If you are looking for an adult only hotel, that is beside the sea, and within walking distance of Playa Blanca then this could be the one for you. People will always have their opinions as to whether there should be music around the pool or not, more or less entertainment, and whether the buffet caters for everyone or not, but in our opinion, if you are looking for a well run hotel, a relaxed holiday, where all the staff are polite, courteous and helpful then the Timanfaya Palace could be for you. Special mention goes to Pepe, Daniel and everyone in the restaurants who looked after me (unfortunately I have a variety of food intolerances) and to the chefs who prepared individual meals for me every night….every night is themed and there are also chefs preparing meat and fish etc to order. While people have their likes and dislikes, for someone with food intolerances, there was always plenty to choose from. The activity team run some excellent sessions which are there if you want them without anyone feeling pressured to join in. Tuesday White Night has a great atmosphere and would suggest this is one not to miss. We feel we get very good value from being all inclusive and have enjoyed the privilege upgrade. While there are always new places to visit, I have no doubt that we will return. Thank you once again to the whole team.
We had an enjoyable stay overall at H10 Timanfaya Palace, but unfortunately there were several things that really let the hotel down, and ultimately we wouldn’t return. The biggest disappointment for us was Mike’s Coffee Bar. We had read great reviews about the coffees and milkshakes and were really looking forward to trying them, but our experience was completely the opposite. Customer service was practically non-existent. Over the week, we came across three different members of staff working there, and sadly all three came across as miserable and unwelcoming. On one occasion, we waited around 10 minutes to be served while the member of staff behind the till was chatting away. The milkshakes also weren’t freshly made as we expected from the menu — there was no ice cream available and they were simply poured from a carton into a glass. On another occasion, we had a Baileys Frappe and really enjoyed it, so we returned the following day and asked for the same drink. Despite explaining that we had already had one there the day before, the staff member simply refused to make it. It was incredibly frustrating and really put a downer on the holiday. The cocktails were another disappointment. They were extremely sweet, didn’t taste freshly made, and looked nothing like the pictures advertised. To be frank, they were undrinkable and not at all what we expected. The sunbed situation was also frustrating. If you aren’t out by around 8:30am, you’ll struggle to find a sunbed apart from those right at the top of the resort. We had read reviews saying that towels were removed if reserved before 9:30am, so we didn’t expect it to be a problem. However, people simply leave their belongings on the beds, sit on them until around 9:30am and then go for breakfast, meaning there are very few available when you actually want to use the pool. The poolside food was hit and miss. The club sandwiches and chips were lovely, but the chicken wrap was a real let-down. It was advertised as chicken, salad and Caesar dressing, but what we received was essentially chicken paste folded into a wrap and grilled, with absolutely no Caesar dressing. The hotel itself is also starting to look a little tired in places, with paint flaking from some walls and the mini-golf area looking quite weathered. We also felt the entertainment could have been better. There were, however, plenty of positives. The restaurant staff were fantastic — friendly, helpful and always quick to clear plates and keep everything running smoothly. The food was generally of a good standard, with different choices and themes throughout the week. The hotel has three nice pool areas, our room was a good size and cleaned well, and we had a lovely view overlooking both the mountains and the sea. The mini-fridge was also restocked with water whenever we used it, which was a nice touch. Location of the hotel was good just a few minutes walk from the beach. Overall, we did enjoy our holiday and there were certainly some good aspects to the hotel. However, for us, the poor experience at Mike’s Coffee Bar was a major disappointment, especially as we had specifically been looking forward to the coffees and milkshakes after reading previous reviews.
Visited this year and whilst we had a relaxing holiday we would definitely not return to this hotel, nor would we recommend it.
Food lacked taste and variety, breakfast was ok, wouldn’t bother with half board.
We had a lovely meal in the local Chinese restaurant ‘Asia’ on our last night which actually turned out to be the best meal of our holiday.
The receptionist on arrival was poor with the lack of information given in regards to where our room was situated, times for breakfast, evening meal etc just seemed to have no knowledge at all and could have just been someone off the street! For repeat holidaymakers that’s fine but it should be acknowledged that it’s the first time visiting the hotel therefore a little more time taken to explain things would have gone along way.
No concierge service not when we arrived anyway which is what I would expect from a 4 star rated hotel. We struggled to find our room and having cases to manage is not want you want late at night.
Room whilst close to pool area so no long walks was on the ground floor so was like living in a bunker with literally no view!
Positives were the no reserving sunbeds before 9.30am which worked well but as a previous reviewer mentioned people just stayed on the beds until 9.30 then went for breakfast 😂.
Staff mainly in restaurant were the best, always friendly and welcoming and quick at removing dirty plates although on some occasions a little too quick as if you both left the table to choose what you were having it was being totally cleared and cleaned for the next people, this happened quite regularly.
I totally appreciate some people love this hotel and go year on year but for us it just fell short on others we have visited elsewhere.
Sorry not for us.
We have stayed at this hotel numerous times, probably into double figures, some of our past reviews may be on my husband's account. We were allocated a lovely room on arrival but unfortunately had a sleepless night due to noisy neighbours, we are both light sleepers and we spent a good hour or so looking for a mobile phone that we thought someone had left behind that was vibrating. After 2 or 3 hours of listening to it the penny finally dropped and we realised it was not a vibrating mobile it was a neighbour snoring 🤭. We then listened to a row erupt, probably the gentlemans wife deciding she could not listen to it any longer 🫣 We can laugh at it now but we barely shut our eyes all night. Off to reception the following morning, the lady (sorry i did not get her name) found us an alternative room under difficult circumstances (hotel was full). The view wasn't as lovely and I was a little disappointed but we managed to sleep, my husband has heart failure and it really knocks him about if he doesnt sleep well. We celebrated our wedding anniversary in the Kasbah restaurant which was wonderful and my husband turned 65 a few days later, the staff in the buffet restaurant sang happy birthday to him and appeared with a cake and a bottle of cava. I would like to thank all staff involved in making his birthday that little bit more special. Pepe was his usual amazing self, the minute we walked into the restaurant he waved us to a table and our drinks were on it before we even sat down, hes an absolute star.
The pool areas are just beautiful with plenty of beds to go around, clean, tidy and the gardens are looked after very well. Many people complain the pools are cool but who needs warm pools when the weather is so hot and for those that do an heated pool is available.
The buffer restaurant, well what can I say, plenty of choice, immaculately presented. I do have one complaint...the added addition of the pizza oven means ive come home quite a few pounds heavier 😊
The staff are incredible. Bar staff on the piano bar terrace are superb and constantly checking if you need more drinks, they are super friendly, pleasant and polite. The cleaning staff work really hard and it reflects throughout the hotel.
Entertainment is a personal thing, we did find the disco bar incredibly warm and on a few occasions we left after 20 minutes and returned to the terrace. We just love sitting outside on the terrace enjoying the views and having a few drinks, the only downside to this is the number of smokers. I realise its an outside area and probably for their benefit, however for the none smokers it does have an impact on our enjoyment of this area. Although it is windy you are still taking it in. My husband should not be around smokers due to health problems and a none smoking section on the terrace would be a great addition.
This is an amazingly well run hotel. We keep returning, it ticks so many boxes for us.
A huge thank you to all of the staff who work so hard all year round and still manage to keep smiling and look after us all so well on a daily basis.
