Sandos Atlantic Gardens - Adults Only

We were here from 30th July to 13 August. I read all the reviews before we booked and knew exactly what to expect and what we were coming to. We had a positive experience. Yes, it’s a bit tired in places. But the pros for us out weigh the cons. The food was great, there was always something to eat and plenty to choose from. The bungalows were fine, comfy bed and roomy. Yes, could do with a bit of sprucing up but very clean. WiFi patchy but was fine. Can’t comment on the entertainment as we went to bed at 10pm every night! My only annoyance was the pool and pool area. The pool area is cleaned once a week on the Wednesday. The pool itself never seems to be cleaned. One of the pools was quite murky and not the clear blue that I am used to on holiday. I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t cleaned. The second pool got more murky as the holiday progressed. The pool attendant was absolutely hopeless. He was on his phone the whole time, allowed music to be played by rude and thoughtless people around the pool, never cleaned up empty cups, didn’t sort out the loungers. Allowed people IN the pool with drinks. In fact, I have no idea what he was there for. If you were drowning or needed help he was completely unaware and uninterested. There was one day when a chap who apparently worked there last year, was on duty. He was amazing. Stopped anyone playing music (which is the policy ), didn’t allow inflatables in the pool ( their policy) didn’t allow smoking or vaping (policy) and basically walked around and kept the area as it’s advertised to be - quiet, smoke free, quiet pool, no diving, no inflatables. He wasn’t a kill joy, he was just maintaining the advertised standard and policy of the hotel. This is where Atlantic Gardens really let themselves down - no consistency in enforcing their policies . On the last day some chap played his Fleetwood Mac album on repeat, vaped and generally behaved as if he was the only one in the area, when finally confronted, some lady started swearing and challenging the attendant. Just not needed at all! It would help if guests were clearly informed of pool etiquette when they check in to avoid double standards. It really depended on the pool attendant and in the two weeks we were there there was only one day where the pool attendant looked older than 15 and did his job properly and with pride. I don’t understand why people don’t read reviews and know what they are coming to. We wanted a quiet stress free holiday. The youngest there were about 16 and oldest were a few pensioners . Everyone else was a mixed bag..more younger than older. Would we go back? Yes we would as with what we paid we got what we expected. If you are expecting some kind of five star standard then you will be disappointed. Please Atlantic Gardens, sort your pool out and train your staff on how to enforce your advertised policies. If you advertise adults only, quiet hotel then make sure it stays like that. Shout out to Richard and Clare ( Rich was self appointed pool area maintainer extraordinaire), Stan and Janice and Carolyn and Shaun. Because of them we had an even better time! And finally Victor the waiter and Irene on reception - you deserve medals for what you have to endure from some of the British clientele, some of them should have been in the circus! 🤡

We’ve had an absolutely lovely stay at Sandos Atlantic Gardens and honestly, it was just what we were looking for.

The hotel is adults only and peaceful, which was a big plus for us. The entertainment is very low key - perfect if you’re looking for somewhere to relax and totally switch off.

All of the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful but never over the top. They really helped make the atmosphere feel relaxed and comfortable.

We were very happy with the food too. There was a great choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner and we felt the all-inclusive was definitely worth it. There were snacks available between meal times and the self-service drinks were great, with both hot and soft drinks, including branded ones.

There are three pools, plenty of umbrellas and lots of places to sit and relax. One of the pools could do with a little extra cleaning around the waterline but it certainly didn’t spoil our time there.

We really appreciated being able to continue using the hotel facilities on the day we left. We had a late flight so being able to have a shower at the gym before heading to the airport was a real bonus. There are plenty of complimentary towels available in the showers.

Our bungalow was clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, a fridge, seating at the front and a courtyard with a clothes drier at the back. We also had a lovely surprise waiting for us in the room: a complimentary bottle of wine and a birthday note. Such a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. ❤️

The location is lovely too, with a beautiful view of Montaña Roja. It’s only about a 10-minute walk along the seafront to the shops and to Playa Flamingo - a sandy beach. If you have a sea view bungalow, the views out towards Fuerteventura are beautiful: we spent quite a bit of time just sitting and soaking it in.

All in all, we had a really enjoyable and relaxing holiday. It’s not the place to go if you’re looking for loud entertainment and lots of activity but if you want peace, good food, friendly staff and somewhere to properly unwind, we’d definitely recommend it.

Very nice little bungalows with lots of space and a patio area at the front. Rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaners were very good. A little dated in places but all in all nice room. There is air conditioning in the living room area which is nice, we kept out bedroom door open to keep it cool.

Really good selection of food each day, I especially enjoyed breakfast with lots of different omelettes and the traditional English Breakfast items. The desserts were quite flavourless although they looked nice. There is an ice cream bit serving chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and sometimes lemon ice cream which was really nice and very popular with guests.

The soft drinks (Pepsi, Fanta, lemonade, etc.) and one type of beer were available through automatic self serve dispensers which saves waiting for a drink. There is also water and sparkling water in dispensers. The alcohol selection is local alcohol only, branded alcohol costs extra but at a reduced rate for all inclusive guests. The cocktails were nice and the bartenders very friendly. At lunch and dinner you can ask for wine and you will be brought a carafe of what you want.

The pool area was very quiet when we went even when all the sun beds were full. The pools remained very empty which was nice for us, as it is an adults only hotel this may be the reason for quietness. The hot tub was not warm when we went in and is slippery to get in and out of so I would note this. There is a lifeguard at the pool.

The gym is very small and has dated equipment but is okay for basic use. There is a bike and elliptical machine, some free weights and a bench. There is a table tennis table in the gym which you can ask for the bats at reception. There is 2 tennis courts which you can also ask for racquets at reception. We really enjoyed playing tennis and the courts were empty when we went.

There is nightly entertainment (I think), there was a DJ one night and bingo another.

The beach is very close to the hotel, around a 10 minute walk to the nearest sandy part. Here there are also some shops and restaurants. If you keep walking there are more shops and a harbour, and a lighthouse too. The views from the hotel are very pretty as there are mountains.

The highlight of this hotel is the friendliness and attitude of the staff. They were always smiling and obliging to help us, particularly the waiters and waitresses at meal times. Reception staff were so lovely as well. The staff are a testament to the hotel.
