Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We have just returned from a week there as a family of five. The location is really good and only 15 minutes transfer from the airport. The hotel was clean, rooms were reasonably modern and the food was nice and varied. It worked for 1 week but may be repetitive for a two week stay. There is air conditioning in the bedrooms but the inside bar areas didn’t have it and it could get hot.
The pools are good and clean, lots of sun loungers and no issues ever getting any. There were no smokers on the loungers around the pool either which we have found at some other hotels in the past.
Good range of soft drinks, Amstel beer on tap and Cruz campo Lemon, they also offer 0% Amstel bottles. Cocktails were average from a machine and the spirit choice was limited. Disappointing as not cheap to stay there. No water in the rooms but the bar by reception will give you large bottles when you want them. They also make decent coffees and the reception bar is 24 hour.
The gym could do with some investment, 1 cable machine and some dumbbells up to 10kg but mostly cardio machines.
There is a shop at the hotel with prices similar to those nearby. As you exit the rear of the hotel, 15 minutes walk and you are on the Puerto Del Carmen strip with lots of bars and restaurants. They offer a good choice, the area is clean and the views are nice.
We weren’t harassed to buy things or go into venues and everyone appeared welcoming.
The only issue we had was with taxi drivers, wanting more tips, taking longer routes unnecessarily and generally coming across rude and as though they were doing you a favour. These were taxis that hotel reception had booked for us as well.
There are a lot of buses which are cheaper so we switched to them with no issues.
5 minutes walk and you are on the beach, although Puerto del Carmen was lively, we didn’t experience any drunk idiots, there were very little police around and the area had lots of families.
Would definitely return.
Just stayed for 5 nights - I have stayed in 4 star hotels before but this has to be the worst. Food is rubbish , yes you won’t starve but compared to what I have had in other hotels it’s not good at all and in the end I spent a fortune eating out. Drinks are also rubbish , wine not drinkable the only thing that was ok ish was the cava/ beer -.rest of the time again I went out to get a nice drink. Worst drinks and choices in any hotel I’ve stayed in.
Rooms are ok, you can see they need some updating in parts but they are cleaned every day to a good standard. No light on the balcony which was really annoying as part of our holiday is sitting on the balcony on the night playing cards - couldn’t do this in the dark!
Whilst the staff are friendly and work hard I just did not get a feel for this hotel at all and was glad I was only staying 5 nights. Unfortunately I would not return.
Very good hotel, with big garden and swimming pools. With nice view of volcanos and close to beatch. Room is big and clean. Service is very good. It is very nice place for resting. All inclusive service is very good - food and drinks. There are many evening events. Unfortunately in Lanzarote are big carachans, also in the room.
Location… Directly out of the back gate across the road is the beach. Matagorda to the left, Puerto Del Carmen to the right. Lots of shops snd entertainment. Close to the airport so a short transfer.
Hotel staff are fantastic, always helpful and rooms and grounds are lovely and clean. They are a credit to the hotel.
Rooms… we had a double room and a family room. Double room good, bathroom with hairdryer, shaver point, free shower gel and shampoo. Balcony, kettle with supplies. Wardrobe. Family room not as good. Living area with double sofa bed, tv, kettle with supplies, coffee table, wardrobe, long mirror. Separate Bedroom with wardrobe, tv, aircon unit and ceiling fan. The issue for us was no aircon in the living area. It was hot and it was uncomfortable for the person sleeping in living area on the sofa bed. Bathroom with shower, free shampoo and bodywash, hairdryer, shaver point.
Restaurant… nice food, good selection. Main restaurant, 2 speciality restaurants which you can book at reception or on the Riu App. 2 pool bars serving snacks, burgers, hotdogs etc. Bar in reception open 24hrs, can also grab a burger or hotdog.
Pools…. 2 big pools, the one near reception is the busiest it has the activity team. A quieter one over the other side of hotel. We did manage to get a sunbed at the quieter pool but usual towels on sunbeds early! The quieter pool has 2 sections and they did allow people to throw a small ball in one side of it so everyone happy.
2 tennis courts, basketball/football court, volleyball. 2 table tennis tables, pool table. Lots of other activities run by the activity team. Shop, small gym.
Courtesy room… you can book a courtesy room if you have a late flight. You book at reception and get a 30 min slot, there are 2 showers in each room, they get very hot!
Luggage room to store luggage.
We would definitely stay again if booking a double room but would not stay again in a family room due to there being no aircon or fan in the living area as it was an uncomfortable sleep.
The hotel has around 10 cats and they are everywhere!!!
The hotel is lovely and the staff are amazing, particularly the entertainment team. However, the cat situation is out of control and the hotel need to get control over it. Other Riu hotels have built specific areas for their cats and provided them with food, water and shelter to prevent all of the above. I suggest this hotel does the same!
