Myself and my husband rebooked this hotel after visiting a few weeks earlier in June and loving it. My honest review....its an adult only hotel what we loved and appreciated(we've done all the family kids hotels over the years) good mix of ages couples, groups etc and nationalities. The majority of the hotel has pool views,we didn't book a pool view this time but we were allocated one(bonus!) The room has hand-wash,shampoo(no conditioner) shower gel, room has a hairdryer. It has a fridge and 2 glasses,no kettle or iron(fine by us) The shower is great we were there 3 nights on both occasions and cleaners were in every day 😇 The bed is so comfy, with a couple of pillows each and a thin quilt if needed. The air conditioning is the best ive ever came across, this was wall controlled and also a ceiling fan(all needed at temps of 36°) There was absolutely no sunbed wars at all(bliss) you could head to pool at 11/12 am and still gets beds easily, theres also bali beds what look comfy but by god they make you hotter again 🥵 We found the unlimited brunch to be great, with an avid selection of cereals, breads, salads, fresh fruit, pastries, hot breakfast items etc then towards lunchtime they added, burgers, pizzas, ribs, salmon etc. Various juices, waters, teas, coffees, absolutely spoilt for choice, with the staff working endlessly to keep the food topped and and also the place tidy.Your food can be eaten inside with air con or outside if you like, no plates to be taken to sunbed but you can take drinks in paper cups. Once the brunch stopped serving though there is nothing available to buy food wise so either fill up or your off to the shop. The bar has some good drinks, all served in fancy plastic glasses(look real) so you can drink them in the pool. Hotel towels can be hired for €20 each what is refunded fully once you hand them back in. Dj plays great house music on a weekend but not stupidly loud. We found this hotel to be a little gem, very chilled out vibe if thats what you like and will definitely return again for a 3rd visit.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. We stayed 7 nights but checked out a day early because it was unbearable. Fresh towels and bedding had other people’s hair on them every single day. The water pressure was a nightmare — the shower would randomly shut off, then blast scalding hot or ice cold water with zero consistency. Cleaners left dirty rags in our room on three separate occasions. Worst of all: bugs. Insects crawling on the floor, one fell out of a pair of shorts, and we found a dead bug on the duvet. Unless you enjoy bug roommates, strangers’ hair, and unreliable water, stay far away.
We came here for our first break away from our teenage kids in 18years! We love club, rnb, ibiza music and modern hotels.
Transfer was around 4omins from the airport and as we had an early morning flight we arrived around 11am. Luckily our room was ready and we went down for brunch right away which was a really nice surprise.
Our room was lovely, we had a premium room with the patio and loungers, air con was fab, decor lovely. The only gripe I'd have with the room as there's a dresser/desk but no plug point or mirror which meant for me to get ready I had to hog the bathroom as that was the only plug with a mirror so maybe add a mirror over the dresser.
The pool was lovely, temperature was amazing not freezing cold but tepid, very welcome for me as I hate freezing cold pools! The bean bags around the pool were a lovely touch and we used these a lot to lay around the pool edge and dip our legs in. We always could get a lounger down by the pool as we get up around 8am and even after breakfast around 11am u can find a bed. The prices from the bar were really reasonable and waiter service to your bed too, always smiling and happy. The staff were so friendly, from the cleaners to the bar and restaurant staff and that was really lovely. The food was amazing from the breakfast to the added brunch items closer to lunch, there was always something to eat and of a high standard, the only thing I will say is as others have mentioned it isn't very hot so by the time you sit down its nearly cold ( hot items) the warmers are below the food and not above like some hotels maybe this has something to do with it only being warm but not a massive deal, the food and the whole brunch concept is really fab and a great touch. Quite mixed ages staying here, mostly 16-30s but there were a few couples in their 40s and 50s like us.
The only downside.... sadly our trip was spoilt by big groups who took over the entire pool from around 12/1pm drinking, shouting, smoking, and drinking and vaping IN the actual pool and jacuzzi😡 one nationality in particular who thought they owned the place and had no respect for anyone else. It wasnt limited to just one group either as over our week stay we had at least 3/4 new groups all doing and acting the same way. Shame really its not just a couples place and I didn't think they allowed large groups which I did check before booking but seems this isn't the case. We spoke to a few other people staying there who also had the same opinion and said the big groups were a problem and should be more a couples place so not just our opinion and the last day it was so bad we went to the beach to get away from it. Sadly the group of boys above us liked to flick their ash from their balcony and other items while we were asleep ( 12pm onwards!...as most of these groups dont go out till 11pm onwards) rather annoying on both fronts but not the hotels fault as such, although maybe they should look into their group policy as it is very off putting to most people. The music was way too samey every single day, the mornings were fab relaxed chill vibe music but the afternoons changed and were just a thudding constant bass with no lyrics (and we love our club/ibiza tunes even as an older couple) a group of young girls aged 23 even asked what we thought of the music and when we said about it they said omg we think the same! Some current tunes with some lyrics would be nice just for a change and it was VERY loud, and we love music and loud music but this was slightly too loud and mostly house music, again just maybe changing it up a little would be enough.
We jumped on the bus to Palma 2/3mins walk to the bus stop as we had a cloudy overcast day and that was great, it was about 35mins to Palma and we got off and walked around the grounds of the cathedral and main town, had a drink then jumped back on the bus.
The beaches are gorgeous 😍 crystal clear water and the hotel is about 5/6mins walk from the main beach in magaluf and about 15mins from Palma Nova. The bars and restaurant's all along the front are really nice and it was a lovely vibe along the front from magaluf to palmanova. We never went anywhere near the strip after seeing it- NOT our thing at all, half the kids going clubbing looked about 14years old plus, out in the skimpiest outfits 🤣made us feel old 🤣 but thats maguluf for you i guess.
If you stick to the beachfront its a lot more relaxed couples/family vibe.
Overall - we would say this is deffo more a 4 star than a 3 star. As i say we didnt have our teens with us this time, we went as a couple we had a great time and we have recommended the hotel to other people. Its very modern and nicely decorated with very friendly staff and lovely food - 10/10 for the brunch concept 👍 just get rid of the big groups and it would be spot on!
I'm always honest and open, when writing up reviews. I really want to give this hotel a 5* review. I simply can't. Truthfully, this hotel has everything you could possibly need for a short break. But massively let down by small things.
So, I'll start from the beginning. Tangerine by Honne, is pretty much, within the last block of hotels in Magaluf. So, transfer time, from PMI to Tangerine will be a long one. Unless you're willing to pay up, about €60 for a taxi? To get there quicker. Be prepared for a long haul.
The hotel, is absolutely spotlessly clean. Inside and outside. So, we were off to a great start. First impressions.. very good! Impressive, in fact. Check in seemed a little slow and long winded. Eventually, we got the card for the room. Our pool view room was spotlessly clean. And spacious. Enough for the two of us. Very basic, I'd admit. But, we had enough for what we wanted. My only gripe with the room, was the shower. The shower room is absolutely huge. The shower heads are more like jet sprays. So, the water seemed to go over you. Than, on you! Other than that, rooms are of a very good standard. Beds are incredibly comfortable. Air con is decent too. Overall, very satisfied with the hotel/rooms.
As we arrived after 8pm, the only thing available/open was the vending machine. The bar closes about 7pm. (Which we already knew about). Which is a shame, as we'd have happily had a drink at the hotel. But, after all.. we are in Magaluf. And Magaluf, certainly isn't short of places to go.
Location. The hotel is literally a stone throw away from your first set of bars/pubs. We never went into any of these, as both 'Dreams' and 'The Local Pub', over the road seemed empty. So, we decided to take a walk to grab some food. The next set of bars/restaurants is literally less than a 10 minute walk. Coco Bongos was our favourite place. 'Benny's' bar is more family orientated. The Magaluf strip is approximately 10-15 minutes walk. The map, makes it look longer, than it actually is. The beach is also a 5 minute walk. The pirate show, is a 5+ minute walk from the hotel too. So.. considering the hotel, is at the back end of Magaluf... It's still close enough to things.
So.. back to the hotel. The morning after, the night before. I decided to go down for breakfast early. The hotel mainly caters for a younger crowd. As you can imagine, breakfast was fairly quiet. Until about 11am. Breakfast/brunch is from 8-1.30pm. With an absolute array of choices. Personally, I loved this concept. And completely understood it.
Unfortunately.. this is one of the reasons, why I gave this review a 4*. Even though.. the choices are amazing. From pastries, continental breakfast.. to your standard hot breakfast. Unfortunately, the breakfast is absolutely stone cold!! Even though bacon is warmed through. Everything goes cold incredibly quickly. If they had, a microwave to heat up your breakfast.. I'd have happily accepted that. The hotel, has to make do, with what they've got. I'd have a little empathy with that. The breakfast, was a huge let down, for me. Which is a huge shame.
The pool area, is a huge selling point. I absolutely loved it. The pool is of a decent enough size. Water is at a great temperature too. Which surprised us. The surrounding pool area, is kept immaculately clean and tidy. Plenty of sun beds too. Pool got busy, after 12pm. So.. if you go in the morning? You certainly won't struggle to grab a good spot. The pool bar is great. Which offers some great non/alcoholic choices. The cocktails are very good. Prices are pretty decent for a hotel too. The bar staff always seemed to have a smile on their faces. And to top it off, there is a DJ playing some great house music. Great vibes, to have an awesome chilled afternoon by the pool. We both absolutely loved it.
On to checking out. As we had a very late flight home, we asked for a late check out. They said for a €60 charge, we could have the room until 8pm. But, for them, to all of a sudden decide our only option was to offer the shower room, instead. It was better than nothing. So we booked our slot. Which kind of seemed pointless. The shower room, wasn't what we expected. Your shower room.. is basically the pool area toilets. Why, we needed to book the hotel toilets, is beyond me? Unfortunately, the showers had our jet spray shower heads attached. So.. as you can imagine.. absolutely soaked the whole room. And to top it off.. you had fellow guests banging on the locked door, wanting to use the bathroom. So.. we kinda felt, incredibly rushed with the whole thing.
Overall. A very chilled and relaxed stay. A great hotel with chilled out vibes. Just a huge shame, about the food and shower room.
Would I stay there again? More than likely. Just don't book a late flight again!
Overall Hotel Tangerine was a great stay. A convenient location to walk to the centre of Magaluf and surrounding beach clubs. The rooms were clean and clearly updated. The disappointing factor were the front desk/concierge staff - especially when we arrived back at the hotel mid-blackout. They stood around watching the football on one of the guests mobile phones while the rest of the guests were sitting waiting with no updates, or even an offer of water despite it being 40 degrees outside and A/C not functioning inside. If I were to go back to Magaluf, Tangerine would be a strong contender and most likely the staff would have moved on to a job at Lidl by then.
