Cleaning staff stole my bag
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding a very serious incident that occurred during today’s room cleaning.
I have been staying at your hotel for the past week. Every day, I have left my personal beach bag on the balcony after returning from the beach so that it could dry. Today, I returned to my room and found that the bag had completely disappeared.
After asking the housekeeper where my bag was, I discovered that she had taken it from my balcony and placed it on her cleaning trolley. She had then put it underneath the trolley, with fresh towels placed on top of it.
To be very clear: this is not acceptable.
It should not matter whether the item was a beach bag, a piece of clothing, a shopping bag, or any other personal belonging. Hotel staff have absolutely no reason to remove a guest’s personal property from their room or balcony without permission or without informing the guest.
The bag was clearly a personal item, was in good condition, and was visibly being used. It was not rubbish, nor was there any reasonable indication that it had been abandoned. The fact that it was deliberately taken from the balcony and then placed underneath the cleaning trolley, with other items placed on top of it, is particularly concerning and gives the impression that the bag was intentionally kept out of sight.
Fortunately, I have now recovered my bag. However, the fact that I got it back does not make the incident acceptable. I should never have had to search for my personal belongings or ask the cleaning staff where something belonging to me had gone.
Personal belongings must remain untouched unless there is a legitimate reason to move them, and in such a case the guest should be informed. A guest should be able to leave their room and return without having to worry about their belongings disappearing.
I expect this matter to be taken seriously and addressed internally with the housekeeping staff. I would also appreciate an explanation as to why my personal property was removed from my balcony in the first place.

★☆☆☆☆ — Appalling treatment. I would never stay here again.
My experience at Hotel Samos was humiliating and completely unacceptable.
On our first night, there was an altercation involving my friend and hotel security. From what I witnessed, security started the confrontation. The comments made by security staff were disgusting, and their behaviour left me feeling intimidated.
The police attended and reviewed the CCTV. That night, the manager apologised to us, and we were allowed to stay. Then, the following day at around 1:30 pm, I was suddenly told to pack my belongings and leave, without any clear explanation. Police were present while I packed, making an already upsetting situation even more humiliating.
I had paid for four nights with breakfast but stayed only one. The hotel expelled me without refunding the unused nights. My wife was due to join me on Saturday, and this decision also left her unable to use the room we had already paid for.
How can management apologise one night and then throw a paying guest out the next day without properly explaining why?
The conduct of security and the way management handled the situation were appalling. I felt disrespected, intimidated and treated as though I did not deserve even a basic explanation.
This experience ruined my holiday. Based on how I was treated, I would never return to Hotel Samos or recommend it to anyone.
My wee review..
We are here at hotel samos just now and I wanted to share our experience to help others who are thinking of staying here. First of all, the location. You are right in the heat of magaluf here. A 5-10 minute walk to the beach and there are shops and restaurants right outside the hotel. You have KFC and subway within a few steps and McDonald's, burger king, pizza hut and five guys are within a few minutes walk. Not that good need to visit them as the food in the hotel is plentiful and delicious. We've been here 5 nights on a half board basis and there have been different food options every night. The food is fresh and beautifully presented. There are people live cooking fresh meat and fish at night and in the morning there is an omelette station where you can order them made to your liking. I've seen fresh pizza, bbq options, fresh pasta station, bread and cake station, frozen yogurt with every topping you can think of, Ice cream station, freshly made cakes and pastries. Honestly I could go on and on. The staff are helpful and friendly. Nothing is to much trouble. The hotel is clean and tidy, pool area is as well. There is an entertainment team who work tirelessly everyday to keep everyone happy. The only thing I could say about the pool area is that some of the loungers and tables could be doing with being replaced. There are plenty of them though, there was no need to reserve any while we were here. The room is clean and beds are comfy. We were in a twin room. It was very basic but all we wanted was somewhere to lay our heads. The only thing we missed from our room was a kettle. They provided a fridge though. All in all the stay at hotel samos had been lovely and I would recommend it.
I have many mixed emotions
Let’s start with what’s positive:
- great location, next to a beach, bus stops, big supermarket, bars/clubs
- Very nice staff, friendly and active
- Pool area is really good, lots of sunbeds, clean pool
- Lots and lots of food options from different cultures, chefs cooking almost everything under your nose
- The animacion team is absolutely perfect! Almost every night they bring us high quality shows and do different games daily
Now what is happening with the room is something else:
- family room for 3 people had 2 sets of towels and 2 blankets
- The extra “bed” is something you could die on while sleeping, literally falling between it is a 99% possibility if you even as much as turn in your sleep
- You have to be in the shower for 30+ minutes in order to get yourself clean. The water changes from boiling hot to ice cold every 5 seconds and that is IF you get any water at all. At times you can stand freezing in the shower because for 10 seconds nothing comes out of it.
- The two main beds have wheels under them (without stoppers) so you’ll be rolling around like on a carousel during the night
Fabulous hotel with lovely staff
We had the best time in this fabulous hotel, we stayed a week in a premium seaview room which was on the top floor, amazing views.
The pools were a great size and friendly lifeguards. Reception staff were friendly and helpful from start to finish.
Lovely clean rooms, every day with fresh towels, clean bedding on our 3rd day, the cleaner was lovely and friendly.
All staff in the restaurant and bars were friendly, a special shout out to Martin, Nadia, Ceaser, Ricardo and Roberto, they went above and beyond.
The entertainment team Laura, Ariel, Bambino, Triinu and Ramon were absolutely fabulous, kept us entertained alday and put fantastic shows on at night time, so friendly and helpful and took time to talk to you, they work so hard.
The food was delicious, plenty to choose from at breakfast, lunch and dinner, we was all inclusive and never went hungry, the all inclusive drinks and cocktails were fab too.
We've actually booked another few days away next month as we enjoyed it that much, thank you to all staff for making our holiday ❤️
