Sol Guadalupe hotel stay - Alfredo, thank you!
Hi, we have just returned from our holiday in Magaluf and we had a great stay at Sol Guadalupe hotel once again (5th stay). I would like to give a special mention to Alfredo and the whole team of staff, so friendly and professional, you made us feel so welcome. The hotel is always clean, very large footprint, plenty of sun beds, 4 pools, very large main pool, one inside pool, child’s pool and a very shallow baby pool. A large selection of tasty food to satisfy all, cold meats, pasta, salads, breads and hot food with a special item each day. 9 floors of rooms with different views, Mountain View, or the better (in my opinion) pool side view with more private balcony, or sea view. Twin beds or double, mini but good size fridge, free safe in room, set your own 4 digit code, daily towels and cleaning, air conditioning, tv. Alfredo made our stay even better this time buy offering a late check out from our room as we weren’t being picked up for our transfer until 5PM, this meant we had a relaxing final day, thank you. Looking forward to coming back next year! See you soon.

No idea what people are moaning about
Let me start by saying I am fussy with hotels. If they’re awful I will be the first to complain. Reading through the 1 star reviews around a similar time to my stay last week has left me absolutely baffled. What people are expecting compared to what they have paid never ceases to astound me. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy and the showers are hot with good pressure. They are quiet after midnight - in magaluf - not sure what more you could ask for. I’ve never known ‘freebies’ such as water/snacks in the room when not all inclusive so i didn’t expect this. Check in was quick and the staff friendly. Our room was ready immediately and the lifts worked perfectly, they came promptly and whizzed up the storeys speedily. The food was average, but nowhere near as bad as some other places. Sometimes it was cold but on the basis I went for breakfast 5m before closing I really do not blame the restaurant for this. The pool and sunbeds were great - we didn’t get up until midday/1pm some days and we were still able to get a prime spot. The pools were clean and comfortable in temperature. The animation team were fantastic - there were at least 3-4 activities in the day and, as i say, we only saw the afternoon. Can’t comment on the evening as we went out. The snack bar food was delicious and reasonably priced as were the drinks at the bar. All in all, for the price we paid, cannot fault the hotel or the staff. Would definitely return!

The hotel is clean, aesthetic and has everything you need. The standard rooms are a bit small, but overall sufficient for a couple. The fridge is helpful. The games room is a nice touch.
The location is okay. It is in magaluf, but we found Palma Nova had more activities and better restaurants. There are plenty of shops nearby.
We only ate breakfast at the hotel. There is a large variety of different food for breakfast; there is something for everyone. The staff at breakfast were helpful and kind based on the interactions we had. It does take a while for the staff to reset the tables after people leave, which sometimes means you have to grab a dirty table without cutlery. The food is okay but not amazing. The dining room is not overly glamorous.
There seemed to be lots of activities in the pool during the day and there also seemed to be nighttime entertainment. The pool does look a little dirty, but it could just be wear and tear.
The staff seemed to let this place down a bit. They tried to charge us 20 euros to access the room early and told us a room was available. At 3pm (check in time) they told us there was no room. We had to argue with them quite a bit to access our room at the time it was meant to be ready for. They also need to put more staff on reception and the bar. It was also a bit bizarre that they wanted a deposit for an iron.
Overall, it was fine and no major issues but we probably wouldn’t return.

Worst hotel room we have ever stayed in!
Communal areas good but very cold. Room very small with bar stool & big leather chair both totally impractical. Fridge at bottom of bed so no room to get past. Bathroom refurb?? taken out bath put in shower rest of bathroom not touched. Shower slippy no handrail or shelf to put toiletries. Toilet practically under sink so couldn't sit on it properly. Wrist band nobody looks at so what's the point? Upper level sunbeds - rotting staircase to get to them then sticky floor and tables as they are just hosed down not actually cleaned properly. Not sure bedding was changed during the week as stains on arrival were still there on departure although towels changed every day. Bathroom door holes at bottom doorframe warped at bottom, cracks in wall in bedroom also with screw sticking out the wall. I wouldn't accept all this at a 3 star never mind 4 star. Not even kettle with tea, coffee or complimentary bottle of water. No rail to hang wet swimwear on out on balcony. Worst hotel room we have ever stayed in!

Good overall but room for improvement
Lovely room with pool/sea view, sunny in the morning and great shady balcony in the afternoon. Room clean overall but a bit battered in places. Bathroom with large shower, good water temperature and pressure. Only stayed bed and breakfast but food was the worst I've ever had. Cold and over- cooked and chaotic dining room as not enough staff to clear. Paper cups for me are a definite no. Went out for Breakfast in the end as things didn't improve. Large pools and the entertainment team day and night were outstanding. Quiet at night too. Booked as a last minute deal price, but would not pay full price as more 3 star than 4 star.
