This wonderful hotel enjoys a peaceful location not far from the yacht harbour of Portals Nous. The airport is juts about 20 minute car ride away from the complex. Within walking distance, guests will be able to reach the closest sandy beach in the area, which is also very close to the town centre. Guests will also be able to find a variety of boutiques, small shops, restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity, as well as convenient public transport links. If they prefer to explore, the city centre of Palma is a short car ride away, there are several local and international restaurants, cafes bars and many shopping opportunities as well. If the plan is to stay in, travellers can choose resting by the side of the outdoor pool, having a refreshing swim, eating delicious food in the restaurant or relaxing in the spa. The comfortable rooms are decorated with vibrant colours and are equipped with cosy beds and all the essential amenities to have the most pleasant and unforgettable stay.
Room was a lot smaller than expected. Shower over tub with screen glued in place not easy to access. Breakfast average, juice basically coloured water with two Nescafé machines serving the entire busy restaurant. Pool bar serves splash sodas (not cans/bottles). No coffee machines in rooms just kettle and instant Nescafé sachets. One English tv channel poor reception. The Balinese sunbeds at the pool are an additional €20 per day. I’ve been coming to Majorca as a child and a parent for many years. Will I be back to this hotel? No.
This hotel is nothing short of a scam.
We paid extra for a panoramic room with a terrace, only to discover that the room we booked simply does not exist. When we raised the issue with management, instead of offering a solution, the manager became aggressive and argumentative. We were told that a “panoramic view” is subjective and that a “terrace” is also subjective. By that logic, the hotel can advertise anything it wants and deliver something completely different.
What we actually received was a standard pool-view room with a small balcony—nothing close to what was advertised or paid for.
The problems didn’t stop there. The staff were consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. We witnessed the same behavior toward other guests, so this was clearly not an isolated incident. Customer service seems to be completely absent from this hotel’s culture.
Nothing about this hotel feels genuine. The advertising is misleading, complaints are met with hostility, and guests are treated with contempt rather than respect.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. There are far better places to stay where honesty, professionalism, and customer service still matter.
My second visit to this hotel. Wonderful staff and so clean. We were half board and we could not fault the food. Comfiest sunbeds and plenty to choose from, all with parasols. No getting up at 6am to find one! The only disappointing part was they don't have the live singers outside on a night anymore. This isn't the hotels fault, it is complaints from residents, but I think it is a huge shame. Lovely bars and restaurants just outside the hotel too. We were in a family room and it was great. Could have done with some drawers in the second room though. We will be returning.
Perfect hotel. Fair price. Clean, clean, clean. Nice lobby- open, airy. Great location- an easy walk to the beach, cute town, places to eat, supermarket, bus access. Room was perfect- clean, good a/c, good size bathroom. Loved the chill vibe at the pool and the free breakfast was great. Good range of types of people- families w older kids, younger kids, couples, grandparents, girls trips, guys trips- mostly Europeans. Felt very easy as a solo traveler. Highly recommend!
I have been visiting Portals Nous/Puerto Portals for over 20 years and have stayed at Marina Portals on many occasions. Unfortunately, my most recent stay was extremely disappointing.
I travelled with my daughter, along with my sister and her family. My sister booked both of our rooms under the same reservation and specifically booked the same room type for each family.
At check-in, we were given our room numbers and keys. However, when we got to our rooms, it was immediately obvious that they were completely different. One room was much larger, with two balconies, two double beds and a cot, while the other was significantly smaller, with one balcony, one double bed and a cot.
I returned to reception to query this because, during our previous stay in April this year, we were shown the larger room and told that this was the room type we had booked. The receptionist was dismissive and insisted both rooms were the same category, offering no solution whatsoever.
I then spoke to the manager, who claimed that one of the rooms had been upgraded. I explained that I didn’t believe this, as we had been shown the larger room during our April visit as the room we had booked. My concerns were simply dismissed. The manager’s only suggestion was that he could “downgrade” the larger room to match the smaller one. This was a very strange response and certainly not a reasonable solution.
The food was average at best. The pool area is pleasant enough, but since the refurbishment, the choice of a sand-coloured pool lining makes the water appear dull rather than bright blue and inviting. A blue pool finish would have created a much more attractive look.
There were also a couple of disappointing experiences with customer service. One evening, I misplaced my daughter’s pink shoe, and the staff seemed uninterested in helping or even keeping an eye out for it. Even more frustrating, after checking out I realised I had accidentally left my daughter’s white noise machine on the bedside table. My sister was staying at the hotel for a few extra nights, so I asked her to collect it for me. However, both reception and housekeeping insisted that nothing had been found. I know for certain that I left it in the room, as it never made it home with us.
Overall, this was a very disappointing stay. After more than 20 years of returning to Marina Portals, it’s sad to say that I no longer feel it is a hotel I would choose to stay in. Standards of both customer service and the overall guest experience have noticeably declined, which is a real shame for a hotel we have enjoyed visiting for so many years.
