Dirty, outdated room- Star Prestige

Thomas Cook-

The experience fell substantially below the standard we reasonably expected from a hotel of this category and, in particular, from the Star Prestige package we had paid for. A number of the problemswere apparent immediately upon arrival and concerned basic standards of cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance, privacy and the facilities that had been represented to us at the time of booking.

We raised our concerns, but we were not offered a meaningful resolution within a reasonable timeframe. This significantly affected our enjoyment of what was intended to be a relaxing holiday.

  1. Room had not been appropriately cleaned on arrival

When we arrived at our room, it was immediately apparent that it had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard.

Among the issues we found were:

  • Hair throughout the bathroom, including on the bathroom floor and tiles.
  • A dirty jacuzzi within the room.
  • Broken shower jets with black mold around them; they didn't work
  • Wet towels left scrunched up inside the beach bag.
  • The minibar appeared to have been used by previous occupants; open peanuts were present in the minibar.
  • Used glasses had been left in the room.
  • An opened bottle of Prosecco was present.
  • An opened bottle of fizzy water was also present.

This was particularly disappointing because these were not matters that required us to inspect the room closely or look for minor imperfections. They were immediately apparent and gave us the impression that the room had not been properly prepared for our arrival. This was a breach in hygiene standards and was harmful to our health.

For a hotel of this standard, and particularly one offering a premium Star Prestige experience, we consider this unacceptable. We paid extra for a luxury room.

  1. Jacuzzi and shower defects, including black mould

The shower/jacuzzi area was also defective.

The jacuzzi jets in the shower were broken and there was black mould present around the affected area.

This is particularly concerning given that this was a facility intended to be used by guests and raises obvious concerns regarding the standard of cleaning and maintenance. There was also a broken seal around the jacuzzi in the room with hair in the jacuzzi filters, hairs in the bath and stains all over the jucuzzi. Again, harmful to our health.

These issues should have been identified and rectified before the room was allocated to us. It is like they were aware of the faults yet still found it acceptable to not ammend the structural faults yet take customs harm earned money.

  1. Air conditioning was not working

The air conditioning in the room was not functioning properly and was coming off of the wall slightly. Given the climate and the purpose of the accommodation, effective air conditioning was an important part of the facilities we had paid for. Being provided with a room where the air conditioning did not work materially affected our comfort and enjoyment of the accommodation.

  1. Failure to provide a timely and reasonable resolution

Despite these problems being brought to the hotel's attention, we were not offered a meaningful attempt to rectify them until nearly two days later. Instead of an immediate clean and a change of room, the hotel manager Oscar offered us a private chef experience. I would rather a clean, luxury room. This was not a reasonable timeframe given the nature of the issues. In addition, the night reception staff named James lied to the hotel manager and stated on our arrival he had taken us "downstairs" to replace the minibar stock. This wasn't the case.

Furthermore, when the hotel eventually offered to attend to the problems, the proposed time was at an unreasonable time for us, meaning that the proposed solution was not realistically accessible without causing further significant inconvenience and disruption to our holiday.

A resolution that is offered only after a substantial delay, and then at a time that is unreasonable for the guests, does not amount to an effective remedy.

We should not have been expected to spend a significant proportion of our holiday waiting for basic room defects and hygiene issues to be addressed.

  1. Failure to provide fresh towels

We also did not receive fresh towels throughout our holiday.

This was particularly unacceptable given the other concerns regarding the cleanliness and preparation of the room.

Fresh, clean towels are a basic expectation of hotel accommodation and should not have needed to be repeatedly requested or chased.

  1. Housekeeping entered the room without appropriate consideration for our privacy

There was also an extremely inappropriate incident involving housekeeping.

A member of housekeeping entered/barged into our room while we were naked. After my partner asking for them to wait after the first knock. They heard us and responded.

This was deeply embarrassing and distressing and represents a serious failure to respect our privacy.

Regardless of the reason for entering the room, appropriate procedures should have been followed to establish whether the room was occupied and whether it was appropriate to enter. Guests should be able to expect a reasonable level of privacy and dignity within their own hotel room.

This incident was particularly upsetting given the other issues we were already experiencing with the accommodation.

  1. Misrepresentation of the Star Prestige package

A further significant concern relatesto the information we were provided by Thomas Cook when booking the holiday.

We were specifically led to believe that the Star Prestige package included a separate dining facility with a private chef. This was an important part of the package as represented to us and contributed to our decision to purchase the upgrade.

Other than the above, the hotel staff are incredible, the food is delicious and the entertainment is amazing.

If the hotel fixed it's rooms, and cleaned their luxury pools; the bottom pool was really clean. Myself and my partner would return.

A total eclipse!

We chose this hotel specifically to see the total eclipse and wanted adults only in August. We certainly weren't disappointed, from the moment we arrived at check in, we were greeted with a chilled cava and a beer for my partner as Pere expertly explained everything to us. We immediately felt welcomed and at home. We requested a suite on a high floor which we were given. The view was amazing, we really enjoyed drinking coffee in the morning and sipping a g&t in the evening on the balcony, watching the boats. The suite itself was perfectly sized, huge comfortable bed, great pillow menu and lovely jacuzzi bath. Always spotlessly clean (no sign of ants as others have said). My only criticism maybe, the coffee pods were not replaced daily, and when asked the lady who serviced the room, she abruptly told me to contact reception! We chose half board and the fantastic choices at breakfast and the amazing dinners kept us fuelled all day. A buffet like no other, such variety, always piping hot, chefs cooking your choice of meat or fish in front of you. I cannot fault it, and the selection of dessert, never have I seen such a choice. We took part in the activities which we would not usually do, but Ian's Aqua gym was the best, such fun and my partner and friend took part in the art class and thoroughly enjoyed. Cocktail making each day, again expertly led by Ian & Luc. Kayaking, was interesting, I'll leave it at that and great fun trying to SUP! Yes, there are the early risers who feel the need to 'reserve' the same sun bed each morning, but i wandered down about 9 30 each day and there were always plenty available, no stress! The staff are really what make this hotel special, I cannot remember everyone, but Fernando in the restaurant always had a smile & chat whilst expertly clearing the tables and serving drinks, Ian from entertainment was brilliant, such a great personality, Angel expertly serving in the bar and Mario with his expert cocktails, all staff deserve a shout out as they really were superb. Will we return? I think maybe we will!

Gorgeous holiday

What a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely gorgeous, with stunning views that really make the hotel feel special. It was also lovely and peaceful without feeling too busy or crowded.

The rooms are a decent size, very clean and well looked after, making them really comfortable to come back to after a day out.

The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly and always happy to help, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The food throughout the day was very good, with a great variety of options to choose from. There was also a really good range of drinks available.

Overall, a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location with excellent service, great food and a relaxing atmosphere. We would definitely stay here again!

7th Visit

This was our 7th visit to this beautiful hotel. We love the wonderful views, the amazing breakfast the cleanliness and most importantly the staff who are so so friendly, some who we think of as friends ie: Philip and Nuria who always go above and beyond🥰. I must admit though this visit we were disappointed in some things. We missed the lovely smell as you walk into the hotel-tiny detail but missed. We had lunch every day in the restaurant and thought it wasn’t as good as previous years. It was more quantity rather than quality. The pork ribs were so tough and tasteless, as was the grilled steak and pork. Far too many fish and pork dishes on. Never saw a joint of meat, a lamb chop or cooked chickens like before. The first morning in breakfast, we were told that the air conditioning is only on lunchtime and dinner time, we were so uncomfortable we could not even have a hot drink. But if you were in a penthouse room their restaurant had air con on????After speaking to the manager the air on was turned on at breakfast but only on low. We saw people with hand held fans trying to keep cool. Not really acceptable for July. As I’ve said before if the doors to the restaurant were kept fully closed the air con may be better, plus you wouldn’t get birds flying around while trying to eat. To highlight the sunbed situation, there was only one row of sunbeds round the main pool when there is usually two rows, no wonder people couldn’t get one. Also yes we did see lots of Ants this time in our room but wasn’t too bad. We also have a hot tub room-the same room each year, and this time the hot tub didn’t work properly. We were told it was the sun making it hot, but even in a morning the water was 30* but by the afternoon it was too hot to use. We had to keep having it emptied every lunchtime in order to cool it down, and that was after 2/3 trips up to reception because the maintenance man didn’t come back. This has never ever happened before, we normally control it ourselves. We payed a lot of money to upgrade to this room. All in all we really do love the hotel, it is our Happy Place, and we do hope all these little problems were just a one off, because we do want to return again next year- just not July.

An unforgettable return to a very special place ❤️

An unforgettable return to a very special place ❤️

From the warm welcome we received upon arrival to the very last little detail of our stay, everything was simply perfect.

There is a reason why this was already our second time staying at Iberostar Mallorca. This place holds a very special place in our hearts: three years ago, during our first holiday here, my fiancé and I got together. So, as you can imagine, returning this year came with a lot of excitement, anticipation and emotion.

And somehow, despite all those wonderful memories and high expectations, the hotel managed not only to live up to them, but to exceed them. We came home once again with even more beautiful memories, experiences and positive feelings than before.

I am usually not someone who likes returning to the same holiday destination, as I always prefer discovering somewhere new. But coming back here felt absolutely wonderful. There was something almost magical about being in the same place again three years later.

The hotel itself is beautifully maintained and exceptionally clean, and what truly makes it special is the people. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming and attentive. The service throughout our stay was impeccable, and the food was absolutely delicious — with an incredible variety and more than enough choice every single day.

I would especially like to thank Chef Abdul & Chef Gerard and the wonderful culinary team for taking such exceptional care of my gluten-free diet. They truly went above and beyond my expectations. Every day they surprised me with something special, whether it was gluten-free pizza, pasta, or an amazing dessert or cake. I never felt that I had to compromise or miss out on anything because of my dietary requirements.

By the end of the holiday, the culinary staff all seemed to know me as their “chica sin glutin” 😄, which always made me smile. A huge and heartfelt thank you to every single one of you for making me feel so well looked after and for putting so much care into everything you prepared for me.

The bar team was equally wonderful. It was especially lovely to see Ivan again, whom we had already met during our stay three years ago. Ivan, Kiko and Atanas were always incredibly friendly, fun and welcoming, and they contributed so much to the relaxed and happy atmosphere of our holiday.

A special mention also has to go to our waiter, Mr. Jacky Chan — Changwen. He was extremely helpful, hardworking and friendly throughout our entire week. Every evening he did his absolute best to make sure we had everything we needed and that our dinners were enjoyable. His dedication and positive attitude certainly did not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciated everything he did for us.

And last, but most definitely not least, Ema. What an amazing person! ❤️

Ema has such a naturally warm and positive way with people. She manages everything with an incredible amount of energy, humour and ease, and she always greets everyone with a smile. Her good mood is genuinely contagious.

There were several occasions when I was the only person who showed up for her yoga or stretching class, and she still happily held the entire class just for me. I appreciated that so much. We also had great fun during the silent disco, dancing and cheering up the other guests around the pool. She even somehow managed to convince my fiancé to join an Aqua Fit class one day — which, believe me, is an achievement in itself! 😄

I also joined a painting class with Ema and Olga, which turned out to be another wonderful experience. We had so much fun, and I especially loved the way Olga guided us through the process and somehow managed to help us create something we could actually be proud of. 😊

These may sound like small moments individually, but together they are exactly what made our holiday so memorable. It is not only the beautiful surroundings, the cleanliness, the delicious food or the excellent facilities that make a hotel special — it is the people who make you feel welcome, remembered and genuinely cared for.

And that is exactly how we felt here.

We arrived with wonderful memories from three years ago and wondered whether returning could ever feel as special as the first time. We left with our answer: it was even better.

Thank you to the entire Iberostar team for another unforgettable week and for giving a place that was already so meaningful to us even more beautiful memories to come home with.

We sincerely hope this was not our last visit. ❤️

An amazing hotel made truly exceptional by the wonderful people who work there.
