This hotel is located on the promenade of San Eugenio, just steps from Playa del Bobo beach. There are a lot of shops and entertainment venues just minutes away, as well as public transport links nearby. Puerto de Colón is located nearby, where guests can enjoy boating and fishing trips. New Star Prestige area with personalized service, facilities and comfortable rooms. This is a great hotel for families with children as it counts with useful services and facilities specially designed for the little ones, such as a new Star Camp area and several fantastic swimming pools with sunbeds for adults to sunbathe or enjoy a moment of relaxation. Guest rooms are luminous and offer a fresh and modern style to guarantee a memorable stay.
The dress code to access the main restaurant consists of formal clothes for gentlemen, such as long pants during dinners.
Just back from a weeks stay at this hotel, with family. My honest review-
Rooms- average rooms, basic, small, a little shabby & one the 1st two nights we seen a couple of cockroaches in one of our rooms. We had two rooms, one had no cockroaches & the air con definitely worked better in one room. Balcony tiny. No kettle in room, which was a bit odd for a 4 star.
Location- amazing, you can’t get better. Right on the sea front and walking distance of many bars & lovely restaurants.
Staff- an absolute credit to the hotel, they always greeted my kids & us and couldn’t do more to help- thank you.
Pool area- beds plentiful, lovely mix of pools for all ages, and pleasant surroundings. Often inflatables etc in main pool, so fun for the children.
Communal areas in hotel- shabby and dated, this let the hotel down massively, it made it feel 3 star at best. In desperate need of updating. Also no air con, so was sweltering.
Food- okay, basic all inclusive, plenty of choice, but not amazing to be honest, and restaurant felt a bit school canteen like.
Bars- beautiful rooftop bar, you can tell this has been updated and is stunning on an evening watching the sunset over the ocean.
For me a mixed bag, I think it’s more a 3 star hotel, for the price point I wouldn’t return, but if it were advertised/ priced as a 3 star then I wouldn’t hesitate. It’s definitely a family hotel, which is what we were wanting, so my kids were happy.
First night. Had to wait 30min at reception for our room.
Male discrimination at evening meal, no male allowed to wear vest but women are allowed to wear bikini tops and vest.
Food wasnt to great, felt ill after eating some of their meat options.
Service for the meat to oder ie fish, chicken, steaks as long as you can speak the lingo you will get served first, queuing doesn't qualify as we found out.
Lifts broke down and have to wait 5/7min depending on what floor you waiting at.
Sun lounger always taken before you wake up by those staying as they leave the towels all day whilst shopping or day drips out. Seem to always happen from 0800-1800hrs
Hotel like a sauna when you walk in but they do open the windows on the evening to get a breeze
Good things - good choices on all you can drink through out the bars on the facilities, rooms cleaned every morning, good room sizes for couples if you like 2 single beds pushed together lol.
5/5 Stars – An Unforgettable Stay at Iberostar Waves!
We have had an absolute blast during our stay here, and it is definitely a hotel we will be returning to.
Food & Drinks The food choices across breakfast, lunch, and dinner are amazing. There are fresh grill stations cooking up chicken, fish, and steak right in front of you, along with a massive selection of pizzas. The variety is so huge it can almost feel overwhelming, and you will definitely gain a few pounds—but that’s a testament to how great the food is! Highly recommend going All-Inclusive or at least Half Board. The drink selection is fantastic, ranging from soft drinks to beers and cocktails. Personal favorites were the vodka Slush Puppies and the Cuba Libres!
Rooms & Facilities The rooms are exceptionally clean, with daily housekeeping providing fresh towels and bed linen. The air conditioning works brilliantly to keep the room cool and is remarkably quiet, so it won’t disrupt your sleep. The pool layout is fantastic with plenty of options, including large adult pools and dedicated kids' pools with flumes.
Entertainment & Vibe Nightly entertainment is top-notch, starting with a kids' disco followed by great live music and tribute acts. During our stay, we enjoyed fantastic Whitney Houston, Queen, and Divas nights.
Staff & Service The staff are incredibly friendly and brilliant with children. A massive shout-out goes to Gaizka, who truly went above and beyond for us. He always took the time to chat, point us in the right direction, and made us feel so much more than just guests. Our son adored him—what started as high fives and fist bumps turned into running up for full cuddles every time he saw him. Gaizka is an absolute asset to this hotel, always smiling and delivering genuine hospitality.
One Small Note If there is one downside, it’s the lifts—as many other reviews mention. The wait times can be a total nightmare, and you can spend a fair bit of time going up and down trying to get back to your floor.
Despite the slow lifts, everything else was absolute perfection. Thank you to everyone at Iberostar Waves for a wonderful holiday!
First time here and I highly recommend. Fantastic breakfast, friendly staff and a good vibe. Night time entertainment is also good! Only negative point is the lifts are slow and can be very busy at times but no big issue.
