Having had a lovely time in 2025, we decided to return this year for our 2026 holiday. We had previously read some reviews with some unfriendly waiters but we did not experience this last year. Sadly, the same cannot be said for this year. As part of the all inclusive package, at lunch /dinner, your order for drinks has to be taken by a waiter. On our first day, we waited a while for our order to be taken. As someone who takes medication, I needed some water. I asked if there was someone to take our order. This resulted in me being publicly humiliated by one of the waiters with the whole restaurant looking at us. Most concerning is that the waiter displayed this aggressive behaviour in front of my young son. We were told that we just need to sit down and wait as that is how they do it in Spain. Just for reference, everyone got up and got their food first including Spanish people! The waiter would then only speak to my husband gesturing that I was not here, extremely dismissive of women. Again, not a good role model for my son! Of all the places I have visited across the world, I have never been spoken to like this in any restaurant! Several other guests then came up to me to say that they had experienced something similar. As the waiter in question was there during every service, it was uncomfortable to go in there; I dreaded going in for lunch/dinner - this is not how it should be on holiday. I reported the incident immediately but sadly the message was not passed onto a manger so I decided to follow up. The hotel management were absolutely fantastic! They were apologetic, supportive and genuinely seemed to care about my unacceptable experience. I believe the incident is a problem with the waiter not the hotel. However, The Gala needs to sort the professionalism of the waiters as it is really holding them back. Some waiters need to control their emotions. They only have to scan your card and type in your order - they are not running NASA!! The waiters need to recognise that people have saved up and paid thousands for a good experience! We did spend a lot of extra money due to eating outside of the hotel. Due to this incident, I could not waste my holiday feeling uncomfortable. On a more positive note, we still believe the hotel is worth a visit. It is good value for money. Although we did not see much of the entertainment, the animation team were amazing! If you have young children, this is an excellent place to come. The animation team are a real asset to this hotel. The rooms were spotless. Our cleaners were just wonderful and so friendly (perhaps they should work in the restaurant!) . We left them a tip as they made us feel at home. Overall this is a good hotel and I hope my experience was a rare incident . Aspects of the service need refining. Everyone should have very easy access to water at all times. This could be self service but you have to wait. If you have booked The Gala, you will enjoy it. It has so much potential! Please report any unprofessional behaviour from the waiters as this must be challenged. We were planning on returning next year but after the incident, our love for the Gala has somewhat diminished. We will not return.
My family and I had a lovely experience at the Alexandra Gala Hotel. The staff we encountered were very friendly and accomodating and also very helpful with any queries we had regarding the Hotel..My room was good, with a sea view and with an added bonus of having the spa experience included which we took full advantage of most days of our stay at the Hotel..My Grandchildren found the entertainment very amazing and really liked the entertainers..(the best they have ever had)..I Found the food very good due to the variety on offer and had no issues finding something to eat..I certainly would revisit this Hotel on any return to Tenerife..I would like to thank the laundry staff for finding my grandson's bear which had accidentally got caught up in the bedding..He was extremely thankful and grateful.... Well done all the Hotel staff...
We had a great time at Alexandre Hotel Gala. A special thanks goes to the animation team, who all work so hard. My kids absolutely loved them, and they were always so friendly and welcoming.
Despite reading some negative reviews about the food before we arrived, we actually had no issues at all and really enjoyed it.
The only minor downsides were the sunbed situation. Like many places, you have to get up early to put towels down because everyone else is doing it, but it wasn't enough to ruin the holiday. Also, the kids' club room got very hot in the evening and could really do with some air conditioning.
Overall, we would definitely recommend this hotel for a family stay and hope to return one day!
Excellent location, atmosphere is great with entertainment. Room is beautiful great views.
Lovely hotel, very clean and the staff were great. Excellent hotel for families, would visit again.
