I’m a little between 3-4 star rating for this hotel, just due to some niggles that could easily be fixed! And that for the price paid I was a little disappointed in our experience.
Firstly, the pool and setting of this hotel is gorgeous. This is absolutely the selling point of the hotel. The pools and common areas are so clean, you have amazing views and nice touches such as water at the bar etc all make it feel like a 4* experience. The entrance is impressive and the general feel of the hotel is lovely.
However, the rooms are not 4* quality in my opinion. Neither was the checking in experience. We arrived in the early hours, and despite them knowing we had three children and two adults, the rooms were not configured to meet this (an adult has to sleep in each room by hotel rules) yet we were given a double bed in one room and three singles in another. We spoke to reception and we were told this could be dealt with in the morning, but in the morning we were called to request we visit reception with our passports (despite having had a lengthy time checking in as photos of passports were taken this wasn’t done correctly). When reiterating the issue with the room, we were told the only other twin room was not on the same floor (we booked direct and requested at the time of booking for rooms next door or near each other). We were already allocated rooms separated on the 4th floor and the ‘new’ room would have been an entirely different floor, so didn’t suit our needs at all. As a result we stuck with what we had, so we ended up with one adult sharing a small double bed with one of our children. Not ideal and not 4* service. No apology or even gesture of goodwill or even acknowledgement that the rooms weren’t allocated well to start with, they looked at us like we were being fussy! This I did not appreciate.
Secondly the rooms are small, dated and not particularly clean. Loads of dirt under the bedside table and beds (I dropped an EarPod and was looking for it) and spotted a lack of attention there. Bathroom nice enough and we had a lovely view. But I do not think the rooms are fitting of the 4* tag. Certainly not compared to other hotels we have experienced. The corridors to the rooms have stained carpets, marked walls and again feel dated. Lifts are old and slow. The rooming is 3* in my opinion. Nice enough, but not 4*.
We booked half board, this was a buffet system, very standard experience. Breakfast was good, plenty of tables and choice, excellent service. Dinner on the other hand (as part of our half board package) did not include any drinks (even water!) and you could not bring in drinks either, again not even your own water! They remove your glasses if you don’t want a drink… almost as a protest that you should be buying something! Utterly ridiculous having to ‘sneak’ in water bottles in a bag. 4* should at least include some water for the table. Or ideally one drink. Very disappointed, it felt money grabbing and made us feel we were second class to the all inclusive guests. Food was generally good buffet options, lots of choice, some better executed than others. But kids enjoyed and we all were able to eat plenty.
The entertainment at the hotel was good fun. We loved the yellow party and the foam party. The entertainment staff work very hard and should be praised for their endless enthusiasm and smiles! They work long hours in hot weather and do a great job. We really enjoyed the entertainment offerings. Evening cabaret was also fun. This was all well executed. The hotel is not as family friendly as I’d hoped either. Very much geared up to adults I would say.
The rules around the pool are very militant, just to warn other families. No inflatables, no balls or games. Restrictions on style of jumping in. Which again we found a little disappointing, it’s a big pool that is not over crowded, so seemed unnecessarily strict. There is a separate adult only pool and a baby pool, I feel having the main pool as a firm zone would have enhanced the experience: it is lifeguarded though, but bear these pool rules in mind. I love a lilo in a pool and would prob have booked elsewhere had I known.
All in all we had a lovely holiday, but with some niggles. A bit of refurbishment of the rooms, some minor tweaks of the offering and in particularly some of the rules around dinner and the pool, it really could be 4* experience. But still my family had a lovely time in Tenerife.
I have just returned home from a week holiday with my daughter (15). Firstly the hotel is in a nice location, behind the golden mile and a very short taxi ride to the sandy beaches but families be warned... there are no ball games or infatables allowed in the pool. It is basically just for swimming with only swiming aids allowed such as noodles, arm bands etc The entertainment team will occasionally put on an activity such as an inflatable assault course in the pool, a water running path, aqua aerobics, water polo which helps a bit but otherwise we found it boring at times. You also can only get your sunbed from 8am onwards but after 9am most have already been taken. Between 8am and 9am you have to stay with the sunbed or your items get removed. From 9am you can only leave your sunbed for 45 mins to an hour at a time otheriwse your items get removed. We also found the food to be limited choice for what we liked and a lot of it was repetitive each day. We had stale nachos at the snack bar and a stale waffle at the buffet. The senses dinner show (if you don;t mind drag) is worth watching and also the white party and the foam party. I was asked to rate the hotel by the the hotel itself and or by Hoteligy.com. I maked them the middle score but then received an email saying I gave them the highest rating? I certainly did not. I found the hotel trying to suit everyone, a relaxing environment with lively elements at times.
Our second visit, and this time we did AI Privilege, and it was amazing! We had a fantastic time and will definitely return next year. We were greeted by the gorgeous lady to explain how The Privilege system worked, and it was brilliant. The staff in this hotel work hard around the clock, although we do have to mention the lovely ladies in the A L’a Cart breakfast restaurant, Sandrina, Claudia, and Natalia, (apologies if the spelling of their names is incorrect), they made our breakfast time a real treat, and compliments to the chef who makes the best poached eggs ever!! The lovely ladies also served us our lunch later on in the day at Mencey’s! Sandrina came to ask how hubby was when he wasn’t feeling well one morning which was a really nice touch. The Roman day/night was absolutely amazing, hats off to every single one who worked so hard. The Privilege Terrace is great, and the Spar is gorgeous. Mikes coffee shop is awesome and very popular. The Restaurants are lovely, we didn’t do the Senses shows, maybe next time. Thank you all so much for looking after us, see you next year xxx
We joined our son here on his honeymoon. We upgrade to a Privilege room. There isn’t a category on here rank something between average and very good otherwise I’d rate good at best. The hotel is well located and has lots of facilities. It’s clean and reasonably maintained. Privilege entitles you to waited meals. Breakfast was generous however the menu is confusing and extras are add-ons even if you request as replacement items. We chose lunch instead of dinner on half board tariff. Lunch was basic but adequate. A lot of the staff seemed a little unfriendly and I’m not sure if this a reflection of their job satisfaction or not? (I hope it not an anti-tourism effect as I sympathise with the plight of service industry workers and their ability to afford a living and roof over their heads). The few happy ones were chatty and smiling. The outside and pool areas are vast and very busy. Sunbed hogging is rife despite the notices to the contrary and the rules are not enforced even if you complain. Management are uninterested. The privilege area does have private beds and terrace which is lovely and a lot less busy. The infinity pool at the rear of the hotel is very nice (if you manage to find somewhere to leave your towel!) The privilege area has its own lounge too with drinks and snacks available up to 7pm. Our room was well equipped and had all of the right facilities. The decor is a little tired and the bathroom LED transformer had blown as they constantly flashed like disco lights. We reported it but nothing changed. So would I return? Maybe, Tenerife has completely changed from when I knew it 25years ago. It’s been well developed and there are some very smart hotels in the same location. I expect competition is fierce around here.
The overall stay is quite boring, unlike other years there is barely any activities and the entertainment is poor especially during the day. I love the coastal location, near to shops and accessible to all. Noise level is alright, it's suitable for all its never too loud, never too quiet. The rooms are ultimately clean other than the floors which are significantly dirty. When activities are on there are lots joining in and the entertainment team do well to encourage everyone to join in, however comparing to recent years visiting the hotel this can definitely be taken up a level, then used to go round and collect people to play and now it's just a case of who's here plays, some people may not know these things are on so they will need telling by someone from the entertainment team. Another thing is that the entertainment staff running an activity need to be more aware of what's being said or done to other kids or adults, I say this from specially water polo as from the I last I saw they were swearing and fighting alot and the staff didn't do anything. Minidisco is no where near the same either, lack of songs and a lack of enthusiasm. kids need to be happy to go and dance, again referring to recent years they used to go round and collect kids from the dinner hall, or in the morning daisy would visit breakfast and hand out a slip of what was going on in the day. I don't agree that this stay was worth the price. I could have gotten a better holiday for much cheaper. Again the hotel has downgraded majorly and from this years experience comparing to how good it has been in previous years I simply do not recommend the hotel especially to people or families with children of all ages.
