Puerto de Santiago

Nestled in the heart of Puerto De Santiago, this is an ideal spot from which to discover Tenerife. The hotel is 10 minutes from the impressive Los Gigantes cliffs. The hotel is ideal for families, offering marvellous views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Island of La Gomera. The excellent climate the island enjoys year-round has turned this into an extremely popular destination with holidaymakers.

Would not recommend-Will not return

There were 7 of us in total, 2 grandparents, 2 parents and 3 children (10,8,7) we stayed 4th-14th August 2026, the hotel itself is nice enough and the room was ok. It was a bit far out from the main centre and about an hour from the airport. There was a steep walk down into the marina (and a very steep hot walk back to the hotel too.) where we took a boat trip for a couple of hours at 30 euro per person. The pools are 1.4 metres deep from the smaller pool and 1.35m deep for the larger pool. There is no shallow end for kids who can’t swim. Both pools were really busy as expected during an August holiday, but the smell of pee whilst in the pool was strong in the afternoon! The lifeguard on the side of the pool, I was sure was asleep for a great deal of the time. Our kids all loved the pools though. Mealtimes: hot food is supposed to be hot, none of it was hot. Staff were shattered as there clearly wasn’t enough people on shift. They were tired and grumpy. I think we saw 2 members of staff who were happy and joked with us, the rest all had a resting grumpy face on. For a hotel with over 500 rooms you would expect more than one egg station for breakfast! Breakfast opened at 7.30am and you would expect freshly cooked bacon - not so. Cold undercooked unappetising bacon and sausages. Lukewarm at best. Eggs fried sunny side up, were cold and crispy underneath presented on the dish and still had egg white snot! The queues were long. Some of us made use of the only microwave that was available for all of the mealtimes. In the bars the queues were just too long, and finding seats outside for the evening entertainment were a bit hit and miss. There is work ongoing to fix all of the cracked and broken tiles on the main drag, but it looks like a never ending job for the workmen. The lifts to all levels worked fine throughout our stay. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Staff who serviced our rooms did not leave coffee pods everyday and required chasing, our shampoo/shower gel was not topped up either and on occasion we were a towel down. So overall not the best stay. I would say 2/5. It felt like groundhog holiday as not much to explore of an evening or daytime within easy walking distance, so very samey…

If youve booked here, you'll have a nice time but there are improvements to be made

We stayed at the end of July for 14 nights. Family of 3 with a 10 year old. Check in was ok, bit of a mission finding the room but we booked an ocean view and we were allocated room M223.

Room was lovely, had the older shower over bath but room was large clean and had loads of storage. Air con in room is old but it does work ok, we would of liked it a little colder but it was comfortable and both bedroom and lounge had aircon with different controls which was nice. The cleaners are great, the whole hotel is so clean the gardeners are busy tending to the plants and tidying up fallen leaves. Its a super clean resort. We stayed by the main activity pool for our stay minus 1 day on the Bali beds at the other pool. The activity is pool is nice even during peak season we never had a problem getting sunbeds at all and even till 11am there were sunbeds about. You might not be able to get a huge chunk together but we only needed 3 so was no bother.

The reef pool bar stinks, like gag worthy, how they work behind there all day baffles me it smells like sewerage almost every day. So don't plot up too close to the bar. But the self serve is no problem, we read the reviews and we took our own cups as they only have paper cups there.

There is also one obnoxiously loud speaker at the reef bar, honestly they are speakers plotted around you can see them the rock speakers but none of them are working, only the one by the bar, really lets it down would be nice to have low level music playing all day around a pool, we are on holiday after all. Couldn't hear music at all at the other end of the activity pool, really could do with investing in some music system for he hotel for the day time hours.

The entertainers, there were loads but they lack the personal touch in my opinion. After doing family holidays for years now we normally know their names and they would know ours but you don't get that here. Really lacks that personal touch. The activities are often cut short when the entertainers get bored as well it felt like watching the archery and darts they would just say of time to go do something else now and pack it away. They do the water mat which is a fun and then there is an inflatable slide that comes out sometimes too.

We did use the minigolf and high ropes when we were there and that was a lovely touch. The food was lovely, no issues there the restaurant buffet was super good variety over the week, it did repeat for the second but that didn't bother us, the worst night was Sunday for international night, we did get 3 al la carte bookings with our holiday, we went to bones twice and Ciao once. Bones was much nicer, but don't get the steak get he beef short ribs, oh my they were delicious! Didn't really rate Ciao, the pizzas were nice but the flies that night were dreadful, they know there is a big issue with flies, but there is no bug light which would be a perfect addition. The activity pool lacks a decent food option the OLA snack van is alright but there's a vacant restaurant behind it just wasted, would be much better to have few food options there. All we saw was new mattresses coming out of it. Sunset bar in the evenings is lovely we never went into the Broadway, i didn't like the idea of being inside when it was so nice and cool outside. So we had live music outside in the evenings. We could always get a table outside and the sunsets there are lovely.

Best person to serve you is Leon, oh my what a lovely man! Thank you Leon

Overall the hotel is huge and I feel it really lacks the personal touch that we've experienced before. Let the entertainers just walk around and chat to the guests at their beds. Sort the speakers out, Have some food with seating at the main pool. Sort out the dreadful smell at reef bar. Escort new arrivals to their rooms.

Hate the segregation of the Landi stuff too, not a fan of that. But there are hacks to it, get your kid to find a friend with the green band and then they'll get the whippy ice cream. And they leave the pink prosecco out at the reef bar which is for Landi only but they don't check, and thats lush so i had a fair bit of that.

There are some nice walks nearby but its very hilly and there's not a whole lot nearby. We did the Teidi jeep Safari day out and that was well worth the money, lovely day out.

The best holiday EVER! 🥰

Myself and my family of 12 (kids, mum, brothers, wives and their kids) have just come back from an amazing holiday staying at the Landmar resort. It was honestly amazing from start until finish. Upon arrival the reception staff were warming and friendly, 2 of the rooms were ready and 1 was not, no problem, we arrived early anyway so we just went and chilled in one of the other rooms as the wait wasn’t long. The rooms were clean, spacious and the view was incredible. We had room service everyday, fresh sheets, fresh towels and a top up of coffee and sugar for our hot drinks. Everywhere you looked the areas were very well maintained, clean and tidy. I cannot fault this hotel at all. The food was also another big bonus for us, it’s amazing for everyone, as there was something for all (some of our family are quite fussy eaters) The choice was huge and there seemed to be a different choice every night. One night it was Italian, the next Asian, then Mexican, honestly the food was a big hit for us and we definitely made the most of the all inclusive 😍

Then we have the facilities. The swimming pools were incredible, very big, not over crowded, enough room for everyone and we went in August! We spent a lot of time by the pool as we have younger children who absolutely love swimming (and adults). We did have to start putting our towels on sun-beds around 8.30 though, as we made the mistake the first day or two of going out a bit later and not wanting to secure sun beds, but if we hadn’t we wouldn’t of had any together, and paying the amount you pay to go, you want to be able to have a sun bed by the pool with your family.

There is lots to do for the children, arcades, adventure climbing, a splash zone, cinema, evening discos, entertainment, pool tables, honestly they would never be bored. We didn’t even do some of these as our children wanted to stay mainly in the pool, the arcade and the evening entertainment.

We did go to Siam park one day which was incredible if you like a water park. It does get very busy so you are best to book it at the excursions desk when you arrive on your holiday, you can book your ticket and the shuttle bus as a deal. It does take around 50 minutes to get there but it was worth it. The bus leaves at 9am in the morning but the park doesn’t open until 10am, then the bus picks you up again when the park closes at 6pm. Honestly, it’s an amazing day and our youngest was 6 and the oldest 67, it’s great for all ages.

We also booked a 2 hour boat excursion to see some wales and dolphins. We ventured down to the marina which is about a 15 minute walk, you then had the opportunity to swim in the sea for around 10 minutes if you wanted. The views on the boat were incredible and we were able to see lots of wales and dolphins 🐬 although I would recommend if you have anyone who struggles to walk to get a taxi as it is all very up and down hill. The taxi’s come all the time and are very cheap. They also have a strip of shops near the marina which are good for getting some souvenirs.

We also ventured to the local beach and the shops. The beach has black sand and if you go in the summer I would highly recommend getting some proper swimming shoes with hard soles to wear as you cannot walk on the sand barefoot, it’s incredibly hot and burns your feet. But it was a lovely little beach. The shops were great and we got some little treats and souvenirs from them.

My one and only critique is that we had to come home 😔

Thank you so much for the best holiday. Landmar hotel resort and Los gigantes, you all go above and beyond for people of all ages, thank you ☺️
