Worst holiday EVER - Avoid as if it’s the plague

The worst family hotel experience we have ever had

I honestly cannot recommend this hotel, particularly if you are travelling as a family with children. This was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had.

The hotel itself is very mediocre and extremely basic. There is nothing particularly impressive about it, and for the money we paid, we expected considerably more. The food was repetitive, with virtually the same choices every day, and on some occasions the food tasted very unusual. There was very little variety.

The attitude of some of the staff was another major problem. While a few members of staff were friendly and helpful, others were extremely rude, aggressive and dismissive. On one occasion, after we complained and made some noise about an issue, the electricity to our room was switched off. This was completely unacceptable, especially when staying with children.

However, the most disturbing incident involved Hassan, who was presented to us as a regional manager connected with the company we booked our holiday through and responsible for several hotels. We were offered an excursion which we later discovered was available elsewhere for considerably less — almost three times less than the price we were being charged. When we politely declined, his behaviour became extremely aggressive. He approached me and pushed me, creating a very intimidating and distressing situation in front of my family.

I subsequently asked for the CCTV footage of the incident. What happened afterwards was equally concerning. Hassan then spent approximately an hour sitting and drinking coffee with the hotel manager. Given that I was requesting CCTV relating to an alleged physical incident involving me, I found this extremely concerning.

Another thing that deeply disappointed me was discovering that staff were sharing WhatsApp messages about guests, including comments that were mocking and degrading. A member of staff showed me these messages as they were leaving the hotel that day. I found it incredibly unprofessional and upsetting to see guests spoken about in this way.

Overall, the biggest issue was not simply that the hotel was basic — it was the way we were treated. A family holiday should be somewhere you feel safe, respected and comfortable, particularly when you are travelling with children. We experienced the complete opposite.

There are many better hotels and resorts available, and in my opinion, this hotel is simply not worth the money.

I would strongly advise families, especially those travelling with children, to look elsewhere. We certainly would never stay here againt

Great family holiday, but definitely not a 4-star hotel

We stayed at Miarosa Konakli Garden Hotel as a family of four from 18 to 29 July 2026. Overall, we had a great and enjoyable family holiday, and there are definitely some positive things to say about the hotel. However, I would not consider this a 4-star hotel by European standards. In my opinion, it is much closer to a 2-star hotel in terms of the overall standard and facilities.

The positives

The staff were one of the best things about our stay. They were very attentive, friendly and polite, and despite visiting during the busiest holiday period, everyone seemed to be working extremely hard. In the dining area, staff were constantly cleaning, setting tables and helping guests, and they always made an effort to make sure we had a table.

The food was also very good. There was plenty of choice and we enjoyed the meals throughout our stay.

The pool area was probably the highlight for our children, especially the water slides. The area was constantly being cleaned and there is a small pool bar where ice cream is served at 3pm. There can be quite a queue, but the children certainly enjoyed it.

The animation team also deserves a mention. Apart from Sundays, there were activities every day, including water gymnastics and darts during the day. In the evening, there was a different program every night, always starting with a mini disco. The entertainment was enjoyable, although there definitely aren't enough chairs for everyone, so many people end up standing or sitting on sun loungers to watch.

The room and housekeeping

This is where the hotel really falls short of what I would expect from a 4-star property.

There is quite a lot of wear and tear. When we arrived, our room was prepared for only three people, there were three beds and only three towels, despite us being a family of four. We had to go down to reception to explain the situation. About an hour later, a folding bed and additional towels were brought to the room.

Housekeeping was also inconsistent. During our 11-night stay, the room was vacuumed only twice and the bed sheets were changed once. On four occasions, our bins were not emptied, and toilet paper was not always replenished. We therefore had to go down to reception several times to ask for basic supplies.

The air conditioning worked very well, which was particularly important during the hot July weather.

Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available only around reception and it is quite slow. If you need reliable internet access, I would strongly recommend getting a local data SIM/eSIM or data card before or during your stay or alternatively hotel WiFi that is subject to charge, but you can use it only within hotel.

Dining area

As mentioned, the food was good and the staff were excellent. However, because we traveled during peak season, there were queues, particularly for pancakes at breakfast and at various times during lunch and dinner.

The staff were constantly working to keep everything clean and organised, and they were always polite and helpful.

On several occasions, the bar in the dining area ran out of beer, which was a little frustrating, although this was not a major issue for us.

Pool area

The pool area was definitely a strong point, especially for families with children. The water slides were a big hit with our kids.

Finding an unoccupied sun lounger could sometimes be challenging, but we always managed to find one eventually. The pool area was kept clean, and the staff were constantly working around the area.

Beach

The beach is approximately a five-minute walk from the hotel down the road. There is a shuttle service, although I believe it only runs until around 4–5pm, so outside those hours you will need to walk.

The beach has pebbles, so I strongly recommend bringing water shoes. The entrance into the sea is also quite steep.

There is a small food truck on the beach serving burgers, gözleme and soft drinks until around 4pm. The staff there were also very friendly.

Elevators - a serious issue

The elevators were probably the biggest practical problem during our stay.

There are only two elevators serving the entire hotel, which is simply not enough for a hotel of this size. As a result, people often try to squeeze into the elevators, and unfortunately this can lead to overcrowding.

We actually got stuck in an elevator for around 15 minutes with our small children. There was no air conditioning inside and the children were understandably crying. Thankfully, the problem was fixed after approximately 15 minutes.

The following day, a notice appeared stating that a maximum of four people were allowed in the elevator. Unfortunately, the notice disappeared the day after and the same overcrowding situation continued, with other guests subsequently getting stuck as well.

There are stairs as an alternative, but this isn't particularly practical for guests with heavy suitcases, pushchairs, young children or elderly family members.

Overall, despite all of these shortcomings, we still had a great family holiday.

The staff worked incredibly hard, the food was good, the children loved the pools and slides, and the animation team provided enjoyable entertainment. We visited during one of the busiest periods of the summer, and I genuinely appreciated how hard the staff were working under those circumstances.

So my advice would be: don't book this hotel expecting a 4-star experience. If you adjust your expectations and are primarily looking for affordable family holiday with good food, friendly staff, pools and great entertainment, you can still have a really enjoyable time.

Super Mario

I don’t often write a review as I believe that you get what you pay for I do expect some things as a given when booking a 4 star all inclusive holiday These include curtains capable of keeping the light out at sunrise (4am), clean towels for appropriate number of guests, enough toilet rolls, and beer during the stated all inclusive hours. I had difficulty in explaining these issues and trying to get them resolved to the point that I gave up Whilst outside of our room we experienced normal issues regarding getting a sun bed as these were “ reserved “ overnight and despite reporting this it fell on deaf ears. When in Rome, we left our towels out over night as well. The staff seemed unmotivated and I thought that they have heard and seen it all before The saving grace was Mario, that was a breath of fresh air compared to the staff that I encountered He was always had a hello and remembered everyone’s name, whatever your age, a gentleman My twin granddaughters were told by the children’s entertainer that they could only have one sheet of A4 paper to colour per day despited no other children being in the kids club. Not really a holiday atmosphere To be fair it probably was not all of the staff but they seemed not to have any leadership To conclude I would not return to this hotel or resort but I did managed to enjoyed my time there being in the sun, by the pool, and most of the time being near a cold beer as well as being with my grandchildren who had a great time. Sundays were good as the staff had a day off and the “music “ that normally blared out from 10am to around 5pm was replaced by something more tolerable It was an experience and maybe I am just getting a grumpy old man I would however return to Turkey but maybe do some research on TA

Extremely disappointing holiday – would not return

Unfortunately, our recent holiday was extremely disappointing. We booked through On the Beach and, based on the reviews and description, had expected a much better standard from a 4 star all-inclusive hotel.

The food was awful. It was virtually the same every day, with very little variety, and unfortunately it often didn’t taste nice or taste of anything at all. The all-inclusive drinks were also very limited, with cocktails costing an additional €5–€7. Ice creams were either an extra charge or you had to wait until 3pm for the all-inclusive ones. Even Wi-Fi wasn’t included and had to be paid for separately.

The lack of air conditioning in the main hotel areas was particularly difficult in the heat. Air conditioning was only available in the bedrooms.

The hotel itself is very dated, tired and run down, and there is very little around it. The beach was also disappointing — very stoney, with what appeared to be a waste/sewage pipe entering the water. The beach toilets were absolutely disgusting. The only snack bar available between meals was at the beach, around a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

Cleanliness was a major concern. Our room had dirty floors, stained carpets and a persistent smell of sewage. There were faeces marks on the toilet walls by the pool which remained there for the entire week and were never cleaned. We also found broken glass on the floor. We rarely saw cleaning staff around the hotel, and cleaning appeared very limited to sweeping.

We asked four times for an extra blanket and pillow but were repeatedly ignored. We eventually sent the children to ask and only then received them. The room safe was broken, although this was thankfully repaired after we reported it.

There were also problems with drinking water. There was no readily available cold bottled water, only small cartons in fridges that weren’t switched on, so the water was warm. We therefore had to buy bottled water from the hotel shop throughout the week. Towards the end of the holiday, my son was charged double for the water when we went in without an adult. When we questioned this, the response was extremely rude, although the money was eventually returned.

We were also disappointed with the attitude of some staff and the tour representatives who were only interested in hard selling trips. The hotel taxi was 400 lira more expensive than a local taxi so be aware when asking for a taxi, we experienced several situations where we felt we were being charged extra for things we had understood to be included.

For example, our daughter was given a mocktail one day for free and then the next day they charged €7 for the same drink which was orange just and some red colouring. When we pointed out that it contained no alcohol, the charge was reduced to €5.

The spa staff were extremely persistent in trying to sell spa treatments and packages. We eventually paid for a massage, but unfortunately it was very poor and not enjoyable.

We also don’t understand the positive reviews about the entertainment team. We barely saw them during our stay. There were a few activities around the pool such as water polo and aqua aerobics but nothing particularly memorable. Would have been nice if they put more effort in for the kids.

The lifeguard was frequently on his phone or appeared not to be paying attention, which was concerning. On our final day another guest had a serious injury on the water slide that required him to go to hospital.

The pool table also cost an additional €5.

On our first day, we had to wait until around 1pm for pool towels, which was another unnecessary inconvenience.

Overall, this holiday fell well below the standard we expected. The combination of poor food, cleanliness issues, sewage smells, a run-down hotel, disappointing beach, limited all-inclusive options, additional charges and poor customer service made this a very disappointing week.

We appreciate that everyone’s experience can be different, but this was our genuine experience, and based on it we would not recommend this hotel or return.

A couple of times we paid for a taxi to the local town Alayna and had food in a restaurant on the beach which was lovely.

I have really struggled to find many positives about our weeks stay here unfortunately. If you are considering booking this hotel, I would strongly recommend researching it carefully and reading recent reviews before booking.

Avoid if you want a four star hotel

We stayed at this hotel for two weeks as a family of seven, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We arrived at around 3am and didn’t receive any kind of greeting or welcome from the reception staff. We were given two rooms, one on the first floor and one on the fifth.

The first-floor room was supposed to accommodate four people, but there wasn’t even bedding provided for my granddaughter’s bed. The air conditioning wasn’t working when we arrived and, although it was fixed the following day, it then started leaking water and then ended up stopping working several other times after this. On one occasion, the maintenance staff actually used my granddaughter’s sheet to try and stop the water from leaking further, which I found completely unacceptable.

There were also ongoing issues with our other room. The curtain was broken and despite complaining several times, it was never properly fixed, meaning the sunlight came straight into the room at sunrise. We also had a leak from the toilet throughout the entire two weeks, which caused a very strong smell in the room. I complained about this twice, but nothing was done.

We were constantly having to ask for basic things such as towels and toilet roll. At one point, there was only one towel provided for three people, which just isn’t good enough for a hotel claiming to be four-star.

The food was okay, but after staying for two weeks it became quite repetitive. The entertainment staff were okay, and Mario in particular was fantastic. He really made an effort and kept the hotel entertained.

Unfortunately, I found many of the staff to be quite rude and unwelcoming, and at times it felt like they simply didn’t want to be there.

Overall, I feel the hotel is very run down and, based on our experience, is not up to the standard I would expect from a four-star hotel. There were too many basic problems during our stay, and despite making several complaints, very little was done to resolve them. For a two-week family holiday, this was extremely disappointing.
