We stayed at Kirman Calyptus Premium for 10 nights as a family of 3 and overall had a mixed experience.
Location: The hotel is approximately an hour from Antalya Airport depending on traffic. We found the location quite far out and when we did venture outside the hotel, our experiences with local Turkish people were friendly and welcoming.
Room: Our room was on level -1 and was lovely, spacious and very clean. In fact, cleanliness throughout the entire hotel was excellent. Staff were constantly cleaning, we regularly saw the pool water being checked and there were lifeguards around the pools every day. The hygiene standards are something I genuinely could not fault.
Value: Overall, I would say the value was okay. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern and very well maintained, with good facilities.
One of the biggest positives was the staff. Guest Relations, waiters and bar staff were lovely and particularly sweet towards our son. Unfortunately I cannot remember individual names, but we had some really nice interactions with them throughout our stay.
The poolside snacks were also great, particularly the jacket potatoes which were brilliant for children.
Unfortunately, there were several things that affected our overall experience.
The language barrier was difficult for us as an English-speaking British family. The poolside and evening entertainment was mainly presented in Turkish and then translated into English. We appreciated that English translations were provided, but we sometimes found it difficult to fully follow and engage with the entertainment.
The evening food also became repetitive particularly over a 10 night stay. There was always plenty to eat, but we would have liked more variety and themed evenings such as Italian, Asian/Chinese or other international cuisines, which we have experienced at other all-inclusive family resorts.
The pool facilities were good and the children's slide pool was enjoyable. One observation however, is that it would be nice to have a designated shallow family swimming area for younger children who simply want to swim without using the slides. The shallower area of the main pool could become very congested, particularly with adults and children sitting there with very large inflatables. We also regularly noticed sliders/flip-flops being left directly at the pool edge where people were getting in and out, which we felt could potentially create a trip hazard.
Unfortunately, one of the biggest things that affected our experience was how we sometimes felt as a Black family at the resort. We experienced a lot of intense staring and looks from some other guests, which at times made us feel very uncomfortable. I cannot speak for anyone else's intentions and do not want to generalise about an entire group, but it was noticeable enough that it affected our experience.
Importantly, this was not our experience with the Turkish staff or local Turkish people. The hotel staff were lovely towards us and our son, and when we went outside the hotel we found local people friendly and welcoming. The uncomfortable staring we experienced seemed to come predominantly from some other European guests at the resort.
We had heard so many positive things about holidays in Turkey before travelling, so unfortunately our overall experience was quite different from what we had expected.
A useful thing to know is that there are no irons in the rooms. We were told this was for fire-safety reasons. The hotel offers a paid ironing service, which we chose to use, so this was not a complaint but is useful to know before travelling.
Overall, Calyptus itself is a lovely, exceptionally clean hotel with some wonderful staff and there were definitely things we enjoyed. However, the language barrier, repetitive evening food, overall atmosphere and particularly the uncomfortable staring we experienced meant that it was not the right fit for our family.
Animation team, food, service and shows are great, enjoyed every moment
DO NOT STAY HERE- -I will NEVER EVER book this hotel with jet2 again . The staff at the hotel are horrible rude . I had a family emergency couldn’t make the holiday on the day. Jet2 said to call hotel to change the name on the booking the hotel agreed . My daughter and her dad traveled there only to get to the hotel and to be told to change the name it’s going to cost you 2.5k . The staff didn’t speak English the staff was laughing the staff was saying no we never agreed to change the name even though they knew they did and jet2 knew they agreed. It was my daughter birthday present. They had my child and her dad sitting there for 5hr at the hotel , her dad asked if they could get water or food for my child the staff started laughing and called the police on them . At the end they had to pay £200 to stay for the night . I called the hotel in the morning to say what happened the hotel staff apologised and said sorry they was a mistake last night we will sort it today call in one hour. I called in an hour for someone different to answer and say NO they have to pay 2.5k to change the name then an hour later they kicked them out the hotel demanded another £200 and called the police on them agian. I already payed 2.8k for the hotel all inclusive and didn’t understand why someone taking my place was a big deal no human courtesy at all knowing that the hotel was already payed off. Horrible horrible staff .
Overall, this hotel is fantastic and we would 100% come back. The only reason I’ve given it 4/5 rather than 5/5 is because of a few smaller things that could be improved.
Hotel The hotel itself is beautiful, modern and very clean. There are small amounts of wear and tear in places, but honestly, that’s to be expected in such a large and busy hotel.
We received a lovely welcome on arrival and our child was given a little goodie bag, which was a really nice touch.
The only slight negative was the housekeeping, which we didn’t find to be the best during our stay.
Pools & Slides The pool areas are brilliant, especially for families. They do close for a few hours during the day, so that’s worth being aware of.
We did notice that there wasn’t always a lifeguard around the smaller children’s pool, which surprised us slightly. However, the lifeguards working around the larger slides were absolutely fantastic and very attentive.
Food The food was nice, but probably one of the weaker points for us simply because it became quite repetitive. We would have loved a little more variety and choice throughout the week.
Staff This was a bit mixed. Some members of staff were absolutely lovely, welcoming and friendly, while others unfortunately seemed quite miserable and not particularly approachable.
Entertainment The evening entertainment was okay, but not the best we’ve experienced. A lot of the dance shows were more on the sexy/adult side — this personally didn’t bother us, but it’s worth mentioning for a family hotel.
We could hear the entertainment from the hotel across the road most evenings and, from the sound of it, theirs seemed much more lively and varied!
Sun Loungers As with most hotels, some people are up early reserving loungers. However, we generally managed to find somewhere without too much trouble. By around 11am, though, most of the better spots were taken.
Overall There are definitely a few little things that could be improved, but they wouldn’t stop us from returning.
The facilities are fantastic, the hotel is beautiful and clean, and the pools and slides are a huge selling point — especially if you’re travelling with children.
We had a brilliant holiday here and would happily return. A solid 4/5 from us!
The rooms are nice and clean , the food is perfect ,animation team , the shows, recommended
