Alan Xafira Deluxe Resort Spa & Beach – Honest Review
Overall, we had a decent stay at the Alan Xafira Deluxe Resort, but I personally wouldn’t stay here again.
The hotel itself is massive, with plenty of facilities and things to do. The pool area was really good, and the sunbeds were comfortable. The water park was also good, although the floors were often dirty and didn’t seem to be cleaned regularly. There was a decent amount of entertainment and activities available both during the day and at night, so you’re unlikely to get bored.
The spa was good. You could use the showers, saunas and indoor pool for free, which was a nice bonus. However, you had to pay extra to use anything else in the spa, which was a little disappointing.
The food was decent. There was always somewhere open where you could get something to eat, and there was a reasonable choice. However, the main dining hall was extremely busy, and unfortunately we did come across some dirty plates. The hotel also had a very large number of Russian guests, which made the dining areas feel even busier at times.
Our room was generally clean, but there was an awful sewage smell in the room, which really let the experience down. Another major issue was cleanliness around the pool and water park. The floors outside the pool area didn’t seem to get cleaned properly and were often dirty.
The lifts were another problem. They often took ages to arrive and were regularly overcrowded and extremely hot, which was frustrating in such a huge hotel.
One thing I found particularly annoying was having to pay extra for Wi-Fi, especially considering how much you’re already paying for the holiday. You also have to pay separately for things like ice creams, milkshakes and waffles, which I felt were overpriced.
There are lots of shops both inside the hotel and outside, which is convenient and gives you plenty of options for shopping without having to travel far.
The entertainment was good, and there was a decent variety of activities to keep you occupied. However, there were also quite a few uncomfortable experiences with men behaving in a creepy or inappropriate way, which was off-putting.
Overall, I’d say the hotel has a lot going for it: great pool facilities, comfortable sunbeds, a good water park, a decent spa, plenty of food options, entertainment and lots to do. However, the cleanliness issues, sewage smell, overcrowded lifts and dining hall, extra charges for basic things like Wi-Fi, and some uncomfortable experiences took away from the stay.
Would I stay here again? No. But it wasn’t a terrible holiday, and there were definitely some good aspects to the resort.
good atmosphere,nice resort,good animation
It’s nice hotel, especially thank you for Team Oscaro ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
‼️‼️ DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE PHOTOS – DEFINITELY NOT A 5-STAR EXPERIENCE ‼️‼️
We have just returned from Xafira Deluxe Resort & Spa after our 9 days family holiday and I genuinely don’t know how this place can call itself a 5-star hotel.
Yes, it looks amazing in the pictures. T he building is impressive, the pools look fantastic and the reception area gives you that initial WOW factor.
Unfortunately, once you’ve checked in, you quickly realise it’s a beautiful-looking hotel run like an absolute amateur show.
🚨 OVERCROWDED & CONSTANT QUEUES There were apparently 1,500+ guests staying at the hotel, yet at the main pool there was basically ONE pool bar trying to serve everyone.
Want a drink? Queue. Want food? Queue. Want a snack? Queue.
Waiting 20–30 minutes became a normal part of our holiday. Our holiday highlight became standing in bloody queues!
If your children want an ice cream while you’re at the main pool, get your walking shoes ready. You have to walk around 15 minutes to the Aqua Park bar, then potentially stand another 20–25 minutes in a queue, then walk all the way back.
Nearly an hour of your holiday to get your kids an ice cream. 😂
🍽️ GOOD LUCK FINDING A TABLE The main restaurant is nowhere near big enough for the number of guests.
With 1,500+ people in the hotel, the restaurant seems to hold around 500 at best. Evening meal becomes a mission of walking around trying to find a table while everyone else is doing exactly the same thing. This isn’t what you expect after paying for a supposedly 5-star all-inclusive family holiday.
🧹 ROOM CLEANED 3 TIMES IN 9 DAYS Our room was properly cleaned only THREE TIMES during our nine-day stay.
Enough said. That’s nowhere near a 5-star standard.
🤬 STAFF SHOUTING AT MY WIFE
The staff were simply rude. We haven’t one person smile or looked happy… they just don't want to be there!
One member of staff actually shouted at my wife at the bar! That’s completely unacceptable anywhere, never mind in a hotel that’s supposed to provide 5-star hospitality.
And don’t expect much help from reception. Many reception staff barely speak English, and we were repeatedly given incorrect or conflicting information.
When this was raised with Manager Ali, we were basically told, thats your problem not mine, ignorance from the management clearly goes to the staff. Staff don’t speak English … that is at main reception!
Complaining felt completely pointless because the attitude we experienced gave us absolutely no confidence that anybody cared about resolving the problems.
🚕 AND I ALMOST FORGOT THE “HOTEL TAXI M A F I A ”! This one has to be mentioned because what we witnessed was ridiculous.
The hotel taxi wanted around €30 for a journey of approximately 10 minutes. The same sort of journey through Uber was around €12. So naturally, we ordered an Uber.
Apparently that wasn’t appreciated.
The person running the hotel taxis physically stood in front of our Uber, preventing it from leaving while arguing with the driver, while another taxi was positioned in a way that further obstructed us.
We were sitting there with our family watching this ridiculous confrontation unfold simply because we’d chosen to use another transport service.
Whether the hotel taxi costs €30, €50 or €100 is their business — but guests should be free to choose their own transport without being intimidated or prevented from leaving.
For this to happen at a supposed 5-star family resort was unbelievable.
⚠️ HEALTH & SAFETY – SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT
Around the pools and particularly near the bars there was water everywhere.
The floors became incredibly slippery.
We personally saw multiple people slipping and ending up on their backs.
Yet there appeared to be nowhere near enough urgency around keeping these areas dry and safe.
With hundreds of adults and children constantly walking around wet pool areas, this should be taken seriously BEFORE somebody suffers a major injury.
😂 GYM CLOSED BECAUSE THEY “LOST THE KEY” You couldn’t make this stuff up.
We wanted to use the gym.
CLOSED.
Reason given?
“They have lost the key.”
At a 5-star hotel. 😂
The indoor swimming pool was also closed.
These facilities are advertised when people are choosing and paying for their holidays. You reasonably expect them to actually be available when you arrive.
🇬🇧 ENGLISH-SPEAKING GUESTS – THINK CAREFULLY Our experience was that the hotel appeared far better geared towards Turkish and Russian-speaking guests.
If you are travelling from the UK and expect staff at reception of an international 5-star resort to communicate reasonably well in English, our experience suggests you may be disappointed.
This isn’t about expecting every employee to speak perfect English. Of course not.
But reception staff need to be able to communicate basic information accurately with international guests, especially when there is a problem.
👍 THERE WERE SOME GOOD THINGS To be fair, not everything was bad.
The pools were very good. The Aqua Park was great fun. The evening entertainment was enjoyable.
And surprisingly, one of the best parts of the hotel was the small shops inside the hotel lobby/hall.
The people running them were genuinely friendly, welcoming and not pushy at all. Prices were reasonable too.
We actually found them so good that there was very little reason to bother travelling to the local markets.
Credit where credit is due — those people showed exactly the kind of friendly hospitality that we expected from the hotel itself.
THE VERDICT This place photographs incredibly well. That’s probably its biggest selling point.
But a huge building, impressive lobby and beautiful pools do not automatically make a hotel 5-star.
Five stars should mean excellent service, cleanliness, organisation, safety, facilities and friendly hospitality.
Instead, our experience was:
❌ Constant 20–30 minute queues ❌ One main pool bar serving huge numbers of guests ❌ Restaurant nowhere near big enough ❌ Struggling to find tables at dinner ❌ Room cleaned only 3 times in 9 days ❌ Rude staff ❌ Staff shouting at my wife ❌ Reception struggling to communicate in English ❌ Incorrect/conflicting information ❌ Complaints seemingly going nowhere ❌ Gym closed because they had apparently “lost the key” ❌ Indoor pool closed ❌ Dangerous slippery areas around pools/bars ❌ People slipping and falling ❌ Ridiculous experience when choosing an Uber instead of the hotel taxi
And then:
✅ Great pools ✅ Good Aqua Park ✅ Enjoyable evening entertainment ✅ Excellent little shops with genuinely lovely people
Our family holiday should have been about relaxing and making memories.
Instead, far too much of it was spent standing in queues, looking for tables, chasing basic services and wondering how somewhere marketed as five-star could be so badly organised and run!
Beautiful hotel in the pictures. Absolute Sh… show operationally. Don’t be fooled by the looks.
Would we return? Absolutely not ‼️‼️‼️ Glad to be back home…
No breakfast options, very limited food, not something as basic as French toast, just a load of chips trays and some boring egg, not even beans. Plus they charge 4 euros per handset for devices so that will set you bag significantly if you go with family. Family suite room toilets are misaligned not clean for the price paid.
