With the rooms reflecting the architecture of Bodrum, close location to centre and Blue Flag beach, Prive Hotel Bodrum presents you an unforgettable Aegean holiday in any detail. You can relieve the stress of the year and have an indulgent experience on the beach overlooking Bodrum Castle. You can try stunning flavours at a la carte restaurant which offers the flavours from world cuisine apart from the main restaurant. An equipped SPA centre also provides service for the guests.
Located only 900 m away to Bodrum centre, the property opens the door of a holiday full of entertainment. Indulged by the elegant service of Voyage Bodrum daylight, the guests share the sparkling colours of Bodrum nights after sunset.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
A mixed experience.
We left the Agaya Adults Only Hotel on Monday. Overall, we did enjoy our holiday, but these are the things I wish I’d known before booking.
First, the good points. The staff here are friendly and helpful. The hotel, pool and beach areas are all lovely and clean. The hotel is situated in a nice location with easy access to the sea if you like to swim, and a boat taxi that will take you straight into the shopping area of Bodrum.
Getting a sun lounger around the pool or on the beach is relatively easy, although you still have the people who throw down their towels early in the morning. The cocktails are good and not watered down. The food is also very good, with lots of delicious local dishes to try, and the à la carte restaurant was very enjoyable.
Now, the bad. When we first arrived, we noticed our balcony was barely big enough to stand on. We booked through Jet2 and had specifically booked a “Standard Double or Twin room with Balcony”, so this wasn’t what we expected. There was no room to sit.
The room itself was also a little dated, one cupboard was hanging on its hinges and unfortunately the shower was quite old and not great.
In the morning we raised the balcony issue with the manager, who explained that some of these rooms have full-sized balconies and some don’t. I think Jet2 needs to make this much clearer when booking, otherwise it’s just luck of the draw whether or not you’ll get a balcony you can actually use.
The manager very kindly moved us the next day to a sea view room with a proper balcony and a very good shower, but we had no hot water in the bathroom sink. And for some reason, although the mini fridge was restocked every day, we only got two beers on the first day and then none thereafter.
The entertainment was also a mixed bag. “DJ night” in particular was disappointing. At first I didn’t really understand why people were complaining about the entertainment going on until midnight, but it is very loud, and if you have an early start, or you’re not particularly interested in what’s on offer, you will have no choice but to listen to it in your room. If you’re in a room closest to the restaurant next door, you are also treated to music from both directions. Bring your earplugs, the glass screens do nothing!
The gym was disappointing. The equipment is old and outdated and there isn’t a lot of it.
We also found the WiFi unreliable.
One other thing worth knowing if you’re specifically booking an adults only hotel for a child-free break: the hotel next door is a family hotel. You’ll be able to hear the children’s entertainment in the evening, which starts much earlier than the entertainment at Agaya. You will also be sharing the cordoned-off swimming area in the sea with guests from the hotel next door. These things may or may not bother you depending on how child-free you’re hoping to go, but I think they’re worth knowing before you book.
Overall, we did enjoy our holiday and there is a lot to like about Agaya. The staff were mostly great, we ate very well and the pool and beach areas are very good. I wouldn’t say any of the negatives ruined our stay, but they are things I wish I’d known before booking. Depending on what you’re looking for from your holiday, some of these things may matter to you more than others.
The location of the hotel is perfect, food is good with enough variety for everyone, great selection of all kinds of drinks...a nice bonus is a boat taxi to Bodrum centre just next to hotel but the biggest asset to this place is for sure the staff. Everyone will make you feel very welcome throughout your stay, best compliments to all, especially Baris bey at the beach bar area Would love to stay again
Our holiday was absolutely fantastic. The hotel and especially all the staff were so incredibly brilliant and professional. We have been so impressed by everyone and everything the hotel had to offer. Thank you all so much. We can’t think of anything close to a negative about our week .The atmosphere, cleanliness, food, drink, pool, spa, bedroom, restaurants, bars, public areas and everything else were all top class. Probably our most relaxing and enjoyable holidays ever. We just can’t praise the staff highly enough. Fabulous.
We loved this hotel so much that we came back for the second year in a row! ❤️ The water is amazing, but what really makes this place special is the wonderful staff. Everyone is so friendly, attentive, and thoughtful, with such great attention to detail. We had another fantastic stay and will definitely be back again!
THE STAFF are what makes this hotel 5 *
This is our 2nd time to this hotel. We thought with the change of name it might’ve had a refurb. It hasn’t. It’s all very tired. the attention to detail is missing, broken tiles, cigarette butts on the floor, icecream spills on floor and tables not cleaned all day, messy paint touch ups, we wondered if Stevie Wonder was in charge of the maintenance!
Fab location - a 5 min water taxi to Bodrum town is great and right on the doorstep, though Bodrum and its fakes are pretty expensive these days. But like all Turks the shop keepers are very friendly. The view from the front across the water is amazing.
Food is very good, buffet with lots of fresh salads, fruit and choices. (Better than last year.) The garden bar/ restaurant is really good too with table service. Al acarte , a nice change. Only all inc we’ve been to that doesn’t have 24 hrs food unless you count the cakes. (I don’t) The drinks are good, lots of choice and well made. But if you don’t eat by 4.30pm you have to wait until 7pm for dinner.
Sea front is a little shabby and in need of a new jetty, sun beds not very comfy. The sun umbrella next to us blew over one day and the prong went right through a lounger, luckily there was no one on it. It could’ve been fatal! We avoided the front on breezy days. The sand area smells, this might be down to the cats using it as a litter tray. HOWEVER The kitties are one of the reasons we love it here, they are so cute and enjoyed by most of the guests and fed well. Adorable. 🥰
The pool area has very nice beds, but we never saw the pool being cleaned and there’s dirt on the bottom. Another guest cut their foot, glasses allowed around the pool which is lovely, but dangerous. Most importantly the best Barman. Sadik - he made our holiday exceptional, he looks after all his customers, he’s a 10/10 cocktail mixer. A sweet lad. We wish him well for the future, he has a bright one, with such a sweet nature. The reception, seafront and restaurant staff also absolutely amazing. No need to use the QR code for drinks they are attentive and prompt. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH ❤️
However, THE WORST ENTERTAINMENT EVER! Having holidayed in Turkey for 30 years, we’ve never experienced such awful music. The acts are particularly poor compared to what we have seen elsewhere. But it’s the music they blast out afterwards it nearly ruined our holiday! SHOCKING! We were on the 2nd floor( last year floor 6 so a little quieter) - not sea view thank god! It’s over 16’s NOT 18-30!!! There is no dance floor, but the techno crap they blast so loudly means you can’t even converse with the person next to you. We just went to bed at 8PM after dinner with ear plugs in! Music finished at 12 midnight!!!
We met some lovely people, and we all had an amazing time, but we all felt the loudness of the entertainment so late was the only major drawback and a possible reason not to return. There is no need for such loudness of terrible music. The music played in the restaurants from dawn to dusk although easy listening was just too repetitive the same track over and over, how the poor staff bear it each day I do not know!
Overall, we had an amazing holiday. Thank you. Agaya, please do a revamp and turn down the music!
