As first-time visitors to Turkey, we were absolutely blown away. We weren't sure what to expect as it was such good value but when we arrived at 11pm, we were delighted to receive such a generously warm welcome - not least at the bar where Ramz the barman became an instant favourite, pouring the drinks, cracking jokes, and coaching us on our language skills!
Everything feels incredibly well cared for. The sun loungers were the sturdiest I've seen, giving hand crafted vibes (and next time we'll leave our beach towels at home knowing we can rent them from reception for a bargain). The room was clean, and thoughtfully designed, with chic finishing touches that show just how much love and effort has gone into making this such a beautiful place to stay.
The location is spot on; a 10-15 min walk into town via an entire strip of great restaurants and bars. Everyone staying there was super friendly and the whole place had a really warm, laid-back vibe.
It's a proper boutique hotel with just the two houses. The gardens and pool are well kept, there are books in multiple languages in the lobby, you can book a shower on the last day if your transfer is long after check out... an absolute gem of a place!
We have just returned from a weeks stay at The Portakal Hotel , this was not our first visit. The changes they continually make each season are a credit to the owners. Everyone from the reception staff to the cleaners are so friendly and always willing to help, many staff have been working there for a few years which in the holiday industry is lovely to hear. The rooms are modern and exceptionally clean , the pool is fantastic as is the restaurant area . The breakfasts they serve are just the best not just your normal Turkish breakfast the chef always makes fresh cake every morning. There is a large garden where you can sit and watch the boats go up and down the river , so peaceful. The on.y small criticism is I think the garden could be made more use of . I'm sure this might be the next project. Great hotel which is usually fully booked .Well done to you all we had a great holiday.
Absolutely cracking place. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and were all so friendly and welcoming. The rooms were cleaned every day and always spotless. It’s in a great spot, close to the town with loads of lovely restaurants and bars nearby. The other guests were lovely too, which made the whole stay feel really friendly and relaxed. First time staying here and we’d definitely come back. Really can’t fault it, especially for the price. Unbelievable value for money and would definitely recommend
We were regulars at the Asur Hotel but as it's now closed decided to give Portakal a try. We were unsure how another hotel would match up but can honestly say it didn't disappoint. We stayed at the end of June and loved it so much we've just re-booked for September! We especially appreciated the size of the bedroom and bathroom and how light and airy they are. There is good storage with nice wooden hangers in the wardrobe.
There are so many positives which have all been said on here before but we feel need saying again. The service and hospitality offered really makes a difference to your overall holiday experience. Every single member of the team is courteous and cares about your stay. You feel looked after and special from start to finish. We agree that Eyup and Rams deserve a special shout out but everyone is smiley and friendly with nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast area is kept spotlessly clean and there's so much care and attention to detail with not just the range of options but little touches that make a big difference in how they're presented. Don't worry if you can't get a late check-out room or don't want to pay for one. There's a spacious and modern courtesy bathroom you can use near the luggage area with comfortable seating you can use until you leave the hotel. See you again soon Portakal!
I don’t normally do reviews but we have just came back yesterday ( Aug 6th) from a 16 day stay at this hotel, and this hotel cannot be faulted for anything they do. The rooms are on the more than average size for Turkish hotel, and they are cleaned every day. The whole cleanliness of the hotel cannot be faulted the staff work hard to ensure this is done every day. All of the staff are really nice and friendly from receptionist to the maintenance man, they actually help made our holiday as enjoyable as it was, and it was one of the best holidays we have had. The owners also go out of their way to make sure you have a good time and will sit and chat to you if that is what you like. There are no sunbed issues, as there was more than enough beds to go around, and no reserving beds the night before for the next day, not that you needed to Thank you Portakal Hotel for that most enjoyable holiday, thank you to the staff from the cleaners to the owners, you were appreciated
