I’m honestly still speechless after my stay at Amilla.

I’m honestly still speechless after my stay at Amilla. It truly feels like a dream island with a dream resort.

What made this experience so special wasn’t just the crystal-clear water, the soft white sand, the beautiful villas, or the incredible activities it was the people. Every single staff member was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely caring. They always went above and beyond to make us feel at home.

One of my favorite parts was getting a real insight into Maldivian culture. The warmth and kindness of the people made this trip unforgettable.

Everything about Amilla is thoughtfully designed, creating the perfect balance between luxury, nature, and authentic experiences. I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime escape. Thank you for such an unforgettable stay. 🤍

Great island vacation place

Great island, beautiful beaches, Snorkeling Level A, Private Swimming Pool in the Whole Room. Food is supper good, many restaurants with different styles of food. Suitable for honeymooners, parents and children, snorkeling and people who pursue quiet and luxury.

Wonderful family vacation in Amilla

OP view, OP snorkeling environment. Dive everyday. Different styles of restaurants, the Black cod taste really good in Feeling Koi. Everyone is nice and casual here. Free ice cream service is sweet, we enjoy everyday. Villa space is pretty big, qualified for luxury hotel. Enjoy this awesome trip!

Avoid Amilla Maldives: A Deficient "Luxury" Illusion with Motel-Tier Maintenance and Defiant Management

We booked a Family Water Pool Villa at Amilla Maldives expecting an ultra-luxury family getaway. Instead, we paid an exorbitant amount of money for substandard facilities, severe property neglect, and an arrogant management team that believes operational failures can be swept under the rug with free perks. We stayed in Villa 1303, and the experience was deeply disappointing. Since management loves to post polite corporate scripts publicly to dodge accountability, here is the undeniable, raw reality behind their polished marketing:

Inadequate Bedroom Conditions: The air conditioning in the second bedroom (my child’s room) was completely inadequate and failed to cool the room properly. Management now publicly claims their engineering team found "no mechanical fault." If the AC was perfectly fine, why did your team have to dump a heavy, noisy portable AC unit and a stand fan inside a multi-thousand-dollar luxury bedroom? The presence of that loud portable unit is living, breathing proof of your cooling failure. Worse, the emergency fire detector on the ceiling had a blinding green light that constantly flashed directly over the bed with no option to turn it off. This toxic combination of an overheating room, a noisy backup fan, and a flashing green light is exactly why my child suffered from severe sleep deprivation for days.

Poor Villa Maintenance: The "luxury" upkeep here is nonexistent. The blackout curtains in the master bedroom were literally riddled with visible holes, letting light pour in. Broken light switches and loose power sockets were scattered throughout our villa. For the premium price we paid, the lack of basic maintenance and the poor condition of the room were completely unacceptable for a Maldivian resort designed for families.

Incompetent Management, Hostage Money & Forced Perks: I want to clarify that the frontline staff and ground crew were polite and did their best to respond quickly. However, the resort management was incredibly arrogant and very difficult to contact. When we finally established communication regarding these room failures, the management flatly and immediately refused our refund request first. They deliberately rejected our refund before throwing any free perks at us. Because they already held our money hostage and we were trapped on the island, we had absolutely no choice but to reluctantly accept their subsequent "goodwill gestures"—an early arrival dinner, a 60-minute spa, a dolphin trip, and enhanced dining. They forced these distractions on us after closing the door on a refund, and now they shamelessly use these free activities as a shield to claim we have been "sufficiently compensated." Free food does not replace a functional room and a child's lost sleep. Their offer to relocate us mid-vacation was also a logistical nightmare for a family, not a luxury solution.

We flew to the Maldives for a flawless luxury experience in a premium Family Water Pool Villa, not to be financially exploited. Amilla Maldives is a neglected property run by an incompetent team that completely lacks leadership. Do not be fooled by the pictures. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT. Spend your hard-earned money at the Four Seasons, Soneva, or One&Only instead. Amilla is an absolute disgrace to luxury hospitality.

To Amilla’s Management / "Your Amilla Family": Do not reply to this review with your predictable, copy-pasted corporate script. Save your "blissful greetings" and your hollow statements of being "saddened and concerned." Do not even dare to use your favorite defensive excuse, claiming that you "preferred not to go into detail" or that we "were not given the opportunity to extend your generosity." You were given every opportunity while we were there, but you chose corporate arrogance, trapped us, and refused a refund before forcing those perks on us. Future guests, please watch how they reply to this—if they use their generic PR template or try to gaslight us publicly, it will prove exactly how toxic and dishonest this management truly is.

Amazing Amilla and amazing Ammaty!

As my Tripadvisor profile evidences, I don't write a lot of reviews! However, we stayed at Amilla recently and I feel compelled to post something as this resort and its staff are exceptional !

Right from arrival in Male, we were greeted by the Amilla airport reps who made sure everything went smoothly. We could see the from lovely wooden baggage labels they attached to our cases that we had been upgraded to a reef villa which, as a keen snorkeller, made me very happy.

Arriving on their beautiful island, we were greeted by a welcoming party of staff on the pier, including Ammaty, our fantasic 'Katheeb' (our dedicated personal butler and guest experience coordinator) who was to prove invaluable over our 8 night stay. His title really doesn't do him justice - he was continually on-hand to ensure our entire stay was perfect from start to finish. From explaining and booking excursions and meals to ensuring that my wife's malfunctioning bicycle was replaced and waiting outside the restaurant in the time it took us to finish breakfast - Ammaty was a superstar!

The rooms are a very good size and Mehedi our room attendant kept it spotless clean and all our tea and milk and other supplies replenished throughout.

I also wouldn't normally mention lots of other staff in reviews but the service standards were so high that I must give lots of 'shout outs' (and also apologies to all the others that I may have missed):

The breakfast buffet at Fresh is sumptuous (even including bubbles to drink if that's how you roll) and its excellence is only surpassed by the warmth of the welcome from Alexandra, Firdavs, Jaya, Simba, Yaseen, Murray and the rest of the team.

There are lots of other food and beverage choices throughout the day, whether it be the complimentary ice creams, Saman and Prasanna's sunset cocktails at the Baa Bar or the wonderful experience of dining overwater at Feeling Koi, where you can watch the resident nurse sharks while Sabo, Shahid and team make sure everything is perfect.

Apart from the exceptional F&B offering, another main reason to chose Amilla is the abundant marine life on the house reef that surrounds the island. You can snorkel to your heart's content direct from your water villa and I enjoyed some great eagle ray and shark encounters and also the thrill of being surrounded by a large school of mouth mackerel while they were feeding , which felt like being in the middle of a National Geographic documentary. If you want to be accompanied then the excursions team offer regular complimentary trips to the 'Blue Hole' on the house reef. The night snorkelling (a paid for excursion but well worth it in my opinion) was also great and unlike my experience at other resorts they will take you out even if there are no other guests wanting to go. They also take care to check you have the relevant experience for such an adventure, which I think is a very sensible precaution and ensures all members of the group will be comfortable and enjoy it. Particular thanks to Yamin for his expert and fun night snorkel guiding and also Sotti for the Blue Hole tour.

Luiza the resident marine biologist is a mine of information and hosts regular talks on sea turtles. Her guided tour of the island is also a must.

Finally I must also name check Jason at the Dive Butler Centre who went out of his way to try and rescue my GoPro from a flood and didn't charge for his time in doing so - another example of Amilla's people going above and beyond.

After writing all of this you can see why we have now booked to return shortly. We return in the hope of meeting the mantas at Hanifaru Bay (it was not the right season when we first visited) but also in the knowledge that Ammaty and the whole Amilla family will be sure to make our visit exceptional, no matter what wildlife chooses to make an appearance or not!
