very nice resort and excellent half jain food by chef DALIP
it is very charming and well maintained taj resort. very well received at reception and smooth check in process. stayed for two night in sea view room. marvelous view from room balcony. being half jain senior citizen couple. we had no problem with food. CHEF DALIP provided us such a tasty veg food without onion & garlic that we can never forget. he also helped us to introduce indian chef for our further journeys in Colombo etc. house keeping was very nice . room boy GAYAN was very attentive. we stayed there 8 august,26 to 10 august . one of our most memorable stay with excellent TAJ HOSPITALITY.

Exceptional Hospitality & Heartfelt Service
Our stay at Taj Bentota was truly wonderful and memorable. Traveling with friends, we felt completely at home thanks to the warmth and hospitality of the entire team. A very special mention to Indian Head Chef Mr. Dalip Singh, who gave us such personalized attention and went out of his way to prepare our favorite meals on request. The buffet was absolutely amazing, with every dish being delicious and beautifully prepared. Heartfelt thanks to Chef Manoj, Chef Priyantha, Shamika, Gayan, Rezali, Ruwan, Sama, and Manager Bimal for their warmth and care. A special mention to Mr. Ravindra, our server, who was extremely polite and attentive, taking care of every little detail. Thank you, Taj Bentota, for making our stay feel like a true home away from home. ❤️
Enjoyable Stay - Great Location
A Mixed but Enjoyable Stay: Great Location, Excellent Dining, but Mind the Details. We recently stayed at the Taj Bentota, and while we really enjoyed our stay overall, it was a mixed experience with some initial hiccups and minor annoyances. The hotel location is very nice, but you need to keep your wits about you regarding room assignments and outside excursions. The Room: A Rough Start but a Good Recovery Our stay did not start off well. I had booked a sea-view room, but on arrival, we were given a room where the sea felt about 2 miles away. It overlooked the pool and garden instead, and the AC outside was noisey whole night. After we complained, the management handled it well and shifted us to a true sea-view room.The rooms themselves were nice and clean, and the housekeeping staff was very friendly. However, we noticed a few minor issues:No extractor fans in the bathroom/toilet.The room service menu required downloading an app and installing Microsoft 365 Copilot just to view it, which felt unnecessary and frustrating. Dining & Customer Service at "The Palm"The hotel’s restaurant, The Palm, was really nice and offered excellent customer service. A special thanks to Chaminda, Damith Silva, and Hasitha, who looked after us incredibly well and made our dining experiences memorable. ⚠️ Safety Warning: There is a step inside the restaurant that is quite hazardous. We saw a few people nearly trip and nearly falling during our stay. The hotel should really mark this more clearly. Grounds and Beach: The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained, and the adjacent beach is fantastic. You can take long walks in either direction completely barefoot because there are no sharp seashells to cut your feet. Tip: If you sit out on the grounds in shorts during the evening, be prepared for mosquitoes. There are not a ton of them, but they are around. Beware of the Local Tuk-Tuk Scam, A major disappointment came from an outside service. We hired a tuk-tuk via the hotel concierge desk for sightseeing in the surrounding area. The driver took us to a local Spice Garden. I highly recommend reading online reviews before agreeing to visit these place—it is a complete scam designed to pressure you into buying overpriced goods. I feel the hotel should have warned us before sending us there through their desk. Summary: The Taj Bentota has an amazing location, great food, and standout staff like Chaminda and Hasitha. If they fix the restaurant safety step, simplify the digital menus, and vet their recommended drivers, it would easily be a 5-star experience.

Terrific!
A great place to stay, we had a wonderful time with our friends staying here. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed the food in the main restaurant. Plenty of activities for the kids to do and the pool area was brilliant
