NH Collection Dubai Ibn Battuta

I used to work in Dubai so had been to the Gate many many times for Brunchs in the Mistral Restaurant when it was Movenpick, before it came under Oaks ownership and now NH Collection. First time I'd actually stayed there though :-) Big changes to the hallway, the old massive lanterns are gone, so are the camel statues. The hallway has been chopped into different restaurants, the old Mistral has been remodelled but still retains most of its old looks. The room I was in (3rd floor) had been refurbished and despite being in the lowest price tier was enormous with a huge bed and a workstation. Breakfast had a good choice (even for Westeners) with a live egg station (omlettes etc). Lots of very attentive very well mannered staff. Many restaurants for dining and a new McGettigans bar tacked onto the outside which gave 20% to hotel guests. Of course the Ibn Battuta Mall is 3 minute walk across the road with plenty of cheap and cheerful eateries. Cleanliness was excellent throughout but I have a little picky bit later. 2 of the desk staff bear mention, Ann, a petite filipina lady who could not have been more pleasantly professional and helpful. Patricia a Syrian lady who was also extremely pleasant and helpful.

Now the picky bits. I was there for 11 nights and most days my room was cleaned immaculately, however a couple of days not so much. Loo seat left up so was it cleaned? Used cups, spoons and glasses left as they were. No replacement coffee sachets nor creamer. Just small noticeable things to a professional traveller. In room WiFi was very slow. There was a router which was capable of 450Mb at least but download speed was at best 35Mbs and upload 9Mbs. It was only possible to whats app my wife twice.
