The family-friendly Occidental Tucancun hotel is ideally situated directly on the seemingly endless white sandy beach and enjoys fantastic views over the Nichupté lagoon and the azure blue of the Caribbean Sea. The Kukulkan Plaza and La Isla shopping centres are only a few steps away; Cancún International Airport and the city centre can be reached within a 25 minutes' drive.
Hotel service was excellent; food was good. Very entertaining events every night. Beach was beautiful.
For a 4-star hotel, this was honestly one of the best stays I’ve had! I stayed for 3 days as a solo traveler and was lucky enough to have a beautiful beachfront suite to celebrate my birthday. 🌊✨
The staff were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. The bar and restaurant had lots of food choices, and everything I tried was good.
A special thank you to Jesse, who made my birthday extra special by personally coming to my room and surprising me with a cake and a bottle of wine. 🎂🍷 That thoughtful gesture truly made my stay memorable.
I had no ac for part of my stay. The hotel lost power and my room was 32 celcius or 90 Fahrenheit. This went on for hours. Everytime you go to the front desk they can’t help with anything. I had LIVE COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE. EVERYWHERE. I BROUGHT THEM HOME IN MY SUITCASE. you can search up my google review and look at the images there. No partial refund. The food was slop and disgusting. I paid extra for an ocean view to stare at a roof. Please stay far away. Unless u like to wait 20 minutes in line for an omelette each morning then look no further :). Also balcony door doesn’t lock and I was on the second floor. :))) I have called the property 100 times to get a resolution and went and spoke to the front desk directly the four days I was there. They don’t care. I SLEPT IN 80 degrees my whole stay but the timeshare breakfast lounge has ice cold ac LOL.
This is a smaller resort and may be undergoing some renovations. If you don't mind spending about an hour and a half of your vacation attending a timeshare presentation, this resort may be a good fit for you. Guests who attend the presentation receive significantly better prices on excursions and other bookings. We chose not to attend, so we paid the standard rates.
It shows there were 3 treadmills, when in fact, there were no treadmills.
For dinner, you are only allowed to make reservations at the specialty restaurants on two nights of your stay. On the remaining evenings, you will dine at the buffet restaurants. The food was authentic Mexican cuisine. While items such as bacon were available upon request, they were not part of the regular buffet offerings.
One inconvenience was that our room key cards had to be reprogrammed every day. However, the staff were consistently kind, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay.
We packed our swimsuits in our carry-on bags since our room was not available until 3:00 p.m., allowing us to enjoy the pool while we waited.
On departure day, we had already purchased the speedy departure service, but because the scheduled pickup was not until 6:25, we chose to pay extra for a private transfer so we could leave earlier.
Our family has returned to Occidental Tu Cancún several times, and each visit reminds us why we keep coming back. The staff is consistently welcoming, kind, and attentive, creating a relaxing atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The resort is well maintained, the location is beautiful, and we’ve made wonderful family memories here. We look forward to returning and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, enjoyable stay. A few notable mentions- Jessica- manager from the main dining room, Maria Cano from reservations and Dalina an excellent wait staff. Thanks for another adventure!
