The Occidental Allegro Playacar All Inclusive is a great beach hotel, surround by lush tropical gardens and greenery, and is very conveniently located just in front of the beach, providing guests with magnificent views. Local beaches, renowned for their spectacular white sand and crystal clear waters are close by. Playa del Carmen town is also easily reachable, here guests will find a variety of leisure and shopping possibilities as well as restaurants and other interesting sites. The hotel provides a wide range of dining options, entertainment and leisure facilities in unlimited amounts.

Review and pictures looked great. Almost like two different resorts. Rooms small, bed extremely hard, just not a great stay for the money
The Allegro has changed
We love this hotel, so let's make the best of it as TUI has lost our hold luggage.
GREAT!!
We (Me 52yrs and husband 70 yrs) dropped our hand luggage in our room at about 8pm and headed up to the restaurant for food and a chance to regroup about our situation.
We were denied entry to the restaurant on the basis that my husband wasn't wearing a shirt! I used Google translate and explained our predicament to the girl who got her manager. I again explained "10 hour flight, our luggage is lost, 70 yr old husband has cancer, needs food and drink" We were sent away with just a shoulder shrug. I must say that experience of sheer inhumanity will stay with me for life.
(Our luggage arrived on day 9 of a 14 night holiday)
The hotel:
Rooms- clean and comfortable.
Grounds, beautiful and very well maintained.
Cleaning staff- amazing, friendly.
Bar staff- just lovely and aim to please.
Entertainment- Umm 1 hour show each night starting at 9.30pm then there is the nightclub open at 11pm till 1am. To be fair we didn't bother.
Food- OMG what has gone wrong???? The quality and choice has nose dived, it was awful. I learned how to use Uber Eats by day 7.
If you want a wee bit of lively fun this is NOT the resort for you.
If you want peace, peace and some more peace this is your place. The local wildlife in the resort is amazing though.
Do not expect any kind of planned mental stimulation. This is a different hotel than the one we came to in March 2025.
I hope these words help someone in their choice. I won't be visiting another Allegro hotel.
Disappointing
We booked the Allegro Playacar for our 25th wedding anniversary. The 3 restraurants were a big part of the choice, however only 1 was ever open and always fully booked unless you queued at 8.45 for the booking desk which opened at 9.30. Big group bookings added to the lack of availabilty. Food is repetitive in the main restaurant. We had no hot water on 3 separate days, room keys wouldn't work on 2 other days. The grounds and wildlife are beautiful, always felt safe, otherwise a mediocre hotel and expensive for what it is. We wouldnt recommend this hotel.

Fabulous, can't wait to go back.
This was the first time we we had been to Playa de Carmen. This was an amazing hotel - excellent value for money. the layout of the grounds and buildings added to the relaxing atmosphere. The food was great, and plentiful. We loved being right on the beach. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the AC was really quiet.
The pools are of a good size, and well maintained. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff.
We would highly recommend.
