Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I stay in a lot of hotels and most don’t do enough to earn a bad or a good review they are just so-so. This place is different- I loved it and so did all the family. We were given two Butlers (one off when the other is on), normally I find this a gimmick but here they were invaluable. They helped book trips, restaurants, nothing was too much for them - Alfonso and Gilberto take a bow. Then there was Montserrat on the front desk who I am sure did a lot more besides that, if I could I would have taken her back to the Uk and given her a job; my wife can be fussy so we changed rooms a lot on the first day or so but Montse had no problems with helping and was A++++. The rooms were great, clean, new and we heard no noise. It is a peaceful place and even my kids who are young boys were very happy. The waiters and waitresses were great, remembered you at breakfast and everything was easy as you want it to be when on holiday. I have had problems with the Hyatt as a group before (this is a Hyatt hotel) mainly with loyalty where your status should guarantee you a room with I think 72 hours notice but on two recent occasions they refused to honour their promise and indeed when I emailed them with specific dates and the hotels involved (Budapest and Mexico) I was ignored with no email response, so I am not a lover of the brand but I do love this hotel. Do not let the ownership group put you off this hotel, if you want to relax, see some nature, swim and not have the flotsam and jetsam of society thrown into your hotel when you are there, then stay at this place, you will certainly feel like you have had a rest. Breakfast is fantastic, food is good, people are nice, other guests all very easy and you will feel relaxed at the end of your stay and not wanting it to end - if a hotel can achieve this then they have done their job so so well. Thank you guys we loved it.
Alila has improved the experience in their premises after being Andaz, food is very good, service is very good, beach is great! and the rooms are really great decorated. I would suggest them to have a bigger hotel store with a better variety of things for home and clothing and more care at a very very nice pool that is near the Nu Restaurant.
Honestly I could go on and on about the experience at Alila Mayakoba, but in the interest of people actually reading this I’ll be brief.
Hosts: Gilberto and Ivan went absolutely above and beyond to make our stay luxurious, relaxing, with beautiful little touches beyond just making reservations, and providing transportation. They gave us a beautiful birthday/anniversary set up including a cake, bottle of champagne, resort merch and arranging our polaroids from our vacation into a beautiful display around a hand written note. So incredibly thoughtful.
Spa: even the included hydrotherapy experience was absolutely perfection.
Resort activity: we did an incredible sound bath, meditation and yoga with Mayan locals. Transformative experience for me
Food: not enough can be said about the food at alila. I think it exceeds all the other resort food in mayakoba.
Grounds: exquisite
Room: upgraded to a plunge pool suite upon arrival. Completely renovated since it was andaz. The design is gorgeous.
Highly highly recommend. Massive thanks again to everyone at Alila especially Gilberto and Ivan. We’ll be back.
It was beyond amazing. The service, the location, the amenities. We were lucky enough to have Alfonso and Gilberto as our hosts for the trip and they were so attentive and such wonderful people. The entire campus is so well maintained, you are shuttled around on demand via golf carts or you can take a bike. Our room was beautiful, with a private dip pool overlooking the ocean. 10/10 would highly recommend
Ivan and Alan are amazing. They made the extra step to make our stay unforgettable. Any request was met with haste. For example my son left his sunglasses at the pueblito’s arcade we noticed a day later, asked them if they could look for them. They found them and brought them to us. The best service
