Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The hotel was in a great location, the facilities were good, the restaurant was amazing and the chef made my partner extra spicy food as requested and it was great. Guswi was our server for dinner every night and he provided a 10/10 service and can’t rate him enough, we went above and beyond for us and we really appreciate his hospitality. Panji was our concierge and his service was also amazing 10/10, he booked an ATV ride for us and also Volcano trekking. His service made it easy to enjoy the hotel and not have to stress about anything. The room was very nice, spacious and had everything we needed. We also had a Balinese Massage from Celestine Spa, the ladies were very lovely and the massage was amazing.
Great value and friendly service, but outdoor maintenance needs attention
The public areas and reception of this hotel are very clean and well-presented. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and polite. Check-in was smooth and included a refreshing cool towel and an iced fruit treat. The staff explained the hotel amenities clearly and offered a pre-purchase discount package for the bar and services. Although the hotel was fully booked, they managed to move us after our first night to accommodate our room location request. Our new room on the 5th floor featured a spacious balcony with a lovely pool view. While it was near the lift and had a little foot traffic noise, it was minor and didn't disrupt our stay.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering a wide cultural variety ranging from waffles and pastries to dim sum, local noodles, and even an ice cream station that the kids loved. We felt the hotel offered great value for money for our 4-night stay.
However, there were a few downsides. The common hotel issue of guests reserving pool loungers with towels early in the morning meant it was hard to find a seat, occasionally forcing people into the restaurant area. The pool gets full sun early on, but is half-shaded by 2:00 PM; by 3:00 PM, the shade combined with the beach breeze made it too cold to sit outside. Additionally, while the interior is well-kept, the exterior maintenance is lacking. I noticed missing tiles near the pool bar, peeling faux grass on the exterior, and significant rust on the white corrugated metal roofing and commercial walkways, which looked quite degraded.
Overall, we had a great stay, but I am unsure if I would return. The hotel feels a bit generic, and I personally prefer a more traditional Indonesian aesthetic over a modern white building.
Back when it was an Autograph Collection brand under Marriott Bonvoy, I was always hesitant to stay here; the rooms lacked uniqueness with rather plain interiors and the rates were relatively high. I had finally made up my mind to give it a try, only to find out it had left the Marriott group, forcing me to cancel my booking. Eventually, I finally got the chance to stay at The Stones in a Junior Suite. Upon arriving at the lobby, staff were quick to assist with my luggage, and I was welcomed with gelato sorbet and a cold towel; the lobby atmosphere felt a bit "adult-oriented" due to the purple lighting. It looked grand, featuring various Balinese ornaments, though some corners still felt a bit plain as they were simply painted white. Stepping into the Junior Suite, the space was incredibly vast and airy almost to the point of feeling empty, as there was plenty of room for additional furniture. Unfortunately, the windows in junior suite weren't very large and faced the garden rather than the pool. The room was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The interior still felt somewhat plain, even though it featured wallpaper rather than paint. The room was equipped with a sofa, a bed, a work desk, and a luggage rack. There was also a coffee machine and a complimentary minibar stocked with two juice boxes and three canned drinks. The bathroom was spacious, featuring a long vanity, a bathtub, a toilet, and a double-shower setup—allowing for a satisfying shower experience with two hand-held showerheads and guaranteed strong water pressure. The bathroom exuded luxury with its large marble slab finishes, though the room itself lacked a bit of color. Facilities included a Jacuzzi, kids' pool, gym, kids' club, and main swimming pool. The highlight here was the pool—vast, beautiful, and equipped with a pool bar. The water temperature was warm, matching body temperature, so it didn't feel cold at all. Breakfast flavors and seasonings remained bold and punchy. It was genuinely delicious and satisfying, and the pastries were excellent, too. The menu includes:
The Stones Hotel is comfortable and clean, staff are very kind and welcoming and the atmosphere at the bar poolside is fun! The only thing that annoyed me was that people were getting up at 6am to "reserve" their seats by the pool, but then wouldn't occupy them til late morning / lunch time. There was clearly a notice advising people that if their belongings were left unoccupied for longer than half an hour, then they would be taken away. This didn't happen and that's my ONLY suggestion for the venue to improve on. Other than that, loved everything!!
Great Location Amazing friendly staff Very clean Beautiful rooms
