I stayed at the Sandalwood Luxury Villas at the end of July 2026. My stay was truly exceptional. The hotel is immaculate and it is obvious that the staff members really care about the hotel and take pride in their jobs. The property is stunning. I didn't expect it to fully live up to the promotional pictures, because so few hotels actually do, but I was blown away by the resort.
The resort sits high on a very steep hill, which is part of why the views are so breathtaking. Some taxis do refuse to go up or charge you a little extra. And you do not want to plan to be walking up and down the hill yourself. It is doable but very, very taxing. (I did it once, and wasn't sure I was going to make it back up). The hotel does have their own cars that you can have drive you places so you are able to go explore the island.
I went with a large group of people and we occupied most of the resort. This is a wonderful place to travel with friends, or extended family. Everyone had their own private spaces, but there were common areas where we could all come together. Many of the villas also had great areas for hosting people and socializing.
The resort felt very safe. Being up so high made it so no one who didn't have a reason to be up that hill would be coming in to the resort. I felt so safe there that I was not careful about locking up my valuables, and nothing was ever touched.
I would go back in a heartbeat, and I would highly recommend this resort.
My amazing Thailand, adventure at Sanderwood Villas.
Sandalwood is a beautiful resort with everything and anything you could ask for. The owner of sandalwood was very accommodating to all of our needs. The villas are perfectly appointed. The beds are extremely cozy and comfortable, and the view is spectacular. I highly recommend Sandalwood for your vacation in Thailand! I like to add that the breakfast at the restaurant were amazing and any meal we had there was delicious. Thank you, Robert and Amy for your hospitality.
Simply amazing!
This place is just amazing! Breathtaking views! Warm and friendly staff, they are accommodating and professional, always ready to help with a dedicated chat to answer your needs right away. The rooms were clean and all of the amenities were provided. The layout is spacious! It’s a great choice to stay here for a family vacation or a romantic getaway.

I can’t say enough about the wonderful experience we had. The staff went above and beyond to take care of our very large group. Everyone was lovely to deal with and quick to assist with any issue we had, from transportation to hosting our birthday event. The resort did an amazing job catering our event and let’s not forget the endless amazing meals we had in the beautiful open air restaurant. The villas, all unique, beautiful, sooo clean 🙌🏼 and breathtaking views!! 10/10 Recommend!!! We will be back!

Beautiful resort with amazing staff and food!
Sandalwood exceeded my expectations! The pictures online really don’t do this place justice. The resort is absolutely beautiful, and the views and overall atmosphere were even better in person.
I stayed in the Lily room, which was definitely my favorite compared to the rooms my friends had. It was unique, beautiful, and had so much character. Each room seemed to have its own personality, but I was especially happy with my choice.
The staff were wonderful throughout our entire stay. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. They helped us arrange transportation and even took care of sending my laundry out for me, which was such a nice convenience. Their service really made the stay feel easy and stress-free.
The restaurant was another major highlight. The food was amazing! I ate several meals there during my stay and never had a complaint. Everything I ordered was delicious, and the convenience of having such a great restaurant right at the resort was a huge plus.
Before arriving, I was a little concerned about transportation because I had read several reviews mentioning that Grab drivers and taxis sometimes didn’t want to drive up the hill to the resort. Thankfully, this was never an issue for me. Every time I used a Grab or taxi, the driver had no problem taking me all the way up to Sandalwood.
Overall, I absolutely loved my stay. Between the beautiful property, unique rooms, incredible food, helpful staff, and stunning views, Sandalwood was even better than I expected. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Koh Samui!
